I would definitely soak PUR3GEN31US.

Also when you wash clothes it allows the fibers to return to their natural length and in effect their tensile strength, from extended wear they stretch out leaving them weaker than normal which makes the susceptible to blowouts of any kind.

So I agree with Pots on that not soaking your jeans will definitely leaves you to sooner rips or blowouts

Your only rebuttal is to discount my opinion, yet you've offered nothing as to why you recommend never to let raw denim touch water.

Darklite and myself both pointed out that the denim gains rigidity through the process of the fibers contracting from touching water and subsequently drying. This is a fact.

Furthermore, the absence of water touching the denim will cause the denim more likely to have rips and crotch blow outs. This is another fact.

I own the exact same pair of denim PUR3GEN31US does, along with 3 of my friends. If you are not willing to accept the facts that are presented as is, then I at the very least can make recommendations from my own personal experience from the same pair I own. Additionally Kiya from Self Edge and Gordon from Blue In Green who are revered in the denim boards both recommend washing and soaking jeans when the need arises. My friend who owns the same pair who has never touched water has an enormous hole in the crotch, perhaps that might be sheer coincidence or perhaps it's from the denim never touching water.

Let me assume your objections to having denim touch water. Loss of indigo correct? Since you don't own the same pair, then you don't know that Weird Guy Indigo are extremely stubborn and lose indigo very slowly in contract to the Deep Indigo and 21 oz. In fact, after 2 cold soaks and 1 wash I have barely lost any indigo.

Let me reiterate again that I am recommending for PUR3GEN31US to do a cold soak with a splash of Woolite Dark, not to wash his denim.

While putting his jeans in the freezer will eliminate odor, it will not eliminate the existing grime, sweat, dirt that has penetrated the fabric of the denim itself which is what causes the denim to lose its in integrity in areas of heavy agitation. This is a fact.

I can only assume based on the list of denim you've owned and your own recommendations you have never witnessed the effects of raw denim touching water. Otherwise you would know that after drying the denim it becomes hard like cardboard which only corroborates with my advice that it will strengthen the integrity of the denim. This is also a fact.

You can believe that everything I have to say is conjecture and never wash or soak your jeans. That's fine, that's your prerogative.

I'm not saying to never ever wash your jeans. Nor do I recommend it to people when they come in.

I tell them the truth, which is if you want the highest contrast fades, then wait as long as possible to wash them in the machine. That's why I don't let mine get washed. I won't get the fading I want. I also tell them not to wash their jeans in hot water, or to dry them as this damages the cotton fibers.

Also, when you throw around statements like:
Darklite and myself both pointed out that the denim gains rigidity through the process of the fibers contracting from touching water and subsequently drying. This is a fact.

Furthermore, the absence of water touching the denim will cause the denim more likely to have rips and crotch blow outs. This is another fact.

You should do more than just be like ITS A FACT AND I DONT HAVE TO SHOW EVIDENCE OF THIS AT ALL YOU ARE DUMB UNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGH. I'm still waiting for some kind of proof to those statements. Yes it gains "rigidity" but does this strengthen the denim? I think that is a dubious claim at best without some kind of proof. You would have to rebreak in your jeans, which its nicknamed "breaking in" for a reason right? No offense at all, I simply am not seeing any evidence for your claims. You just keep repeating your mantra. If I'm wrong show me with actual proof, I'll admit I'm wrong and then adjust my recommendations accordingly.

I mean in my own personal experience, my denim busted after I washed it.
I've talked to Brandon, and the U.S. Nudie Reps and they both corroborated my opinion (sorry I don't have it in writing, had I known I would be having this discussion). So... does this mean I'm right and you're wrong?

Why do you keep ignoring the fact that I am recommending him to COLD SOAK his jeans and NOT telling him to throw it in the washing machine? I've said this 3 times now, yet your rebuttal still focuses on washing versus not washing for higher contrast fades. Everyone knows that already, I am merely stating that doing a cold soak will result in minimal indigo loss while still having the benefit of getting rid of grime, dirt, and sweat which you can't do by putting in the freezer.

The evidence you seek is hard for me to substantiate. If I had the resources in place to measure the rigidity of denim before and after wash in terms of denim fiber, then I would. If I had the resources to run this experiment in a controlled environment on multiple pairs of jeans in order to have a representative sample on washing vs not washing then I would. However I clearly don't have the resources to do this, nor anyone on these boards. Therefore the evidence you demand is unreasonable to provide.

On the other hand why should I have to offer evidence when I'm merely giving my opinion. At the end of the day, it's up to the individual what they want to do. They can only balance the weight of differing opinions and make their own rational decision. I could ask you the same thing, why don't you provide evidence that washing jeans weakens the integrity of the jeans rather than strengthening it.

My friend's Indigo worn for 1.5 years. Pictures taken with flash since there's no natural light today. Possibly the most faded pair of Indigo I've personally seen, will update after these have touched water razz

You're all retarded. Stop giving bad advice ok.

This is what happens when you don't wash your denim when you should:

You should see my friend's indigo worn for over 1.5 years no wash. Giant gaping hole in your crotch doesn't compensate for similar results in fading.

O. My bad brah didn't notice that.

On the other hand why should I have to offer evidence when I'm merely giving my opinion.

Well...
Correlation is not causation, I concur. But you can't deny the fact that you are more likely to have rips and crotch blow outs when you don't wash the denim for prolonged periods of time. No idiot would even dare refuting that. You wish to try?

That is an undeniable fact.

i could continue if you'd like. But there is no point. Just stating where I draw my issue.

wear them. as hard and as much as you can. you don't need to wash them to see the fades, you should have them already before you wash.
