The raw and one wash are the same thing for all essential purposes. Once you soak your jeans and waste a good bit of time with the soaking, you'll realize that you have pretty much the same thing as the one wash. I would recommend going for the one/wash because for somebody who is new to this like you, its much easier than to predict shrinkage and how they will fit for the raw. I purchased the raw version of these jeans, but simply for novelty purposes and because they didn't have my size in the o/w. You definitely want to hem these jeans. They are not the quintessential slim jean and are based off of a vintage (67') cut. Having that much stacking and having very slim just accentuates the fact that they are very roomy in the top block, and decently slim. They're not that small in the hem, so lots of stacking makes them look sloppy. Technique has a great fit on these, not the average 811 fit, but still nice. But, they do look sloppy because of the length, and a hem would look much better. What I would do is hem to +2 of your true inseam to account for any further possible shrinkage and to have a bit of stacking. Besides that, they're a great jean, you'll really see the difference between them and what you were wearing before.

Sir this is by far the most informative post I've seen so far,Thank you!

^^^ you just ordered the one washes... the raws are $255 retail... i'd call BiG up first thing in the morning and tell them what happened, unless you wanna just stick with the O/W's

Ugh I really don't want to, because it's already shipped, do you think there's going to be a difference between the onewash and the raws since I was going to soak the raws anyways?
By onewashed is it actually washed? Or just presoaked.

Damn. I fucked up.

Its machine washed, its just a pre-wash, and all the shrinkage will be out, you won't have to worry about that. They'll still be very stiff, and will age and crease in the same way. And if this means anything, the one wash jean is far preferred in general to raw. You'll be fine. You just saved yourself 30 bucks as well. I got the raw version because I wanted to manipulate the amount of shrinkage in the waist in comparison to the rest of the jean. They'll be tight as hell in the waist if you're a true 28, they'll fit like a 27. But, as all denim does, they stretch.

Does anyone who has 811s sag? I've been wearing some 710s for over a year now, and they're nice and whatever, but when I try and sag they look like shit. Right now I'm debating between a true-to-size pair of 811s or some S5000vx because I want a looser straight leg fit than the 710s that I can sag. Thoughts?

Yeah the inseam is pretty long, but then again, I'm 6"4 so I rarely get stacks. Thanks for the feedback though. Some jeans just aren't meant to be sagged.

Its not because of the length, its because of the rise, hip flare, pocket spacing, and general cut. If you want to sag a jean, you definitely do not want to go for a repro cut like the 811.

Yeah, eternal 811 raw is difficult to find in japan as well, the o.w is much more common. The japanese denim heads prefer o/w in general. But, I know that the raw was and still is available through take5 in hong kong.

Again, this is not the jean that will look good sagged!

Down 1 on the one wash is like 2 down on the raw - its not a good idea. But, if you enjoy the initial discomfort, I guess its okay - the fit looks good, but please do not sag eternals!

Do you... but sagging eternal 811s will look awkward (in my opinion) because they have a mid rise, and have a vintage fit in the seat, so you'll be seeing tons of hipflare and sag ass if you do sag.
