Flat Head stopped production on the 4001BK slim cut black selvedge jean one year ago so that they can spend some time developing a new denim. After a year of testing different dye procedures they've found a denim that fades like indigo, but appears black. The new 4XXX denim by Flat Head is dyed with a mixture of indigo and low viscosity sulfur, then undergoes a sulfur-top dye post weave.

The denim is black and with time will fade how an indigo denim will fade with great high contrast contact fading and vertical falling.

The 4001BK is now available in-store and via our online store:

man those new 4001BKs look incredible. if i didn't just buy the sexi04s id be all over those. I can't wait to see a faded pair.

Im considering buying a pair. I need black denim. I was going to get A.P.C.'s or Dior but this seems like a better choice since it fades. There are only 20 pairs right now. I will wait to see if I can put this into rotation since I have the SEXI04's.

You can dip the waist in cold water and stretch them that way. That's how I did mine, and it worked fine.

should fit just like 3001/310s. its just the black version of them. sindeys "famous" jeans are 3001s and theres 367 or something like that pictures out there of him wearing them.

Got some 3001's soaking right now...

they were already pretty snug in the waist pre soak...

hopefully they still fit in the end...

^Nah, they stretch out a decent amount but it was a bad idea of him to size down (guessing that he did) and then to soak them.

I sized up one on these...

the waist only measured to tagged size (my actual size)...

they are hanging dry after a 3-4 hour soak in lukewarm water...

they don't appear to have shrunk much...

only the inseam is noticeably shorter...

I think they came and gone. They didn't get mad sizes just a few I'm pretty sure.
