nothing... it just keeps the patch from cracking... i like patch so i oil it to maintain the leather
perhaps if you found the thread your talking about and posting it we might be able to help otherwise idk wtf your talking about

I haven't seen a single pair of 511s on hurr so I'll put mine up. They blow ass but this is for all the broke nigs who got 'em.

Have had these probably a year and a half, assload of washes but for the last like 5 months no washes.

Weird honeycombs.

Gonna buy the Rigid 510s and be serious about them. These 511s were my fuck-arounds.
