On some models this is the case, but they have a variety of different models to choose from.

The quality of denim is very good. As far as cut and fit, that's all personal preference. I'd check here for different models and sizing info:

im really debating grabbing a pair of these. the fit of the 5010xx looks great but im weary of all the bad quality gripes about them. i just picked up some 710s recently and the quality of construction and the denim is fantastic but i cant feel comfortable with such a high rise. its going to be a tough decision, get rid of the sammies, buy some skull 5010s or wait til the SExIM 19cm collab comes out?

The construction on skull isn't the best yeah. As Dre said, blowouts. I took mine to BiG to be fixed. Huge holes in the back yoke, but I wear my jeans harder/more often than lots of people here so you may be fine.
