So I've got a pair of NS that I like, but with summer here they look a little too "dressy" due to the color and stiffness. I'm looking for a more casual looking pair with a lighter wash. Don't really know anything about denim, but I like the quality of my APCs and the fit (sized down 2), any suggestions?

lol I knew dressy wasn't really the right word. MIne are still real dark and real stiff so I'm just looking for a more casual looking pair to wear with certain stuff. i'm liking Pharrell's in this pic

Do you want slim or really slim? Does fading matter? What is your budget? Skulls > APC imo but it depends on what you are looking for in your denim.

I guess New Cures then because the 5010xx fits pretty close to the New Standards in my experience. Also Skull's best trait is probably their fading so if you don't care about fading there is very little point in choosing them. If budget doesn't matter then you should also consider Dior 19cm, which is more or less a higher quality version of the New Cure (Dior's Heidi Slimane based all his cuts off of APC).

naw staybased how much money do u have?

i don't really believe u need 'starter denim', you can go ahead and just shell out more for better denim than APC, theres really not anything to learn with starter denim

all you gotta do is hot soak unsanforsized denims, and then just wear them, i don't think u need to start out with APC, there is no learning curve

i will just mooch off parents money and use that, i just wanted know a good brand and i hear apc and nudies alot. but from what ive seen in the 5 min i spent lookin today they both cost around the same price range from what i saw

edit: What should I look at for a super-slim black jean? Looking to get a fit like Sidney's:

but with less stacking. Budget is $100, so I was looking at Cheap Mondays and Uniqlo. Obviously for Uniqlo I would go with T-000 but I'm not sure which CM cuts to look at, can anyone help me out? Also, would New Cures be capable of this look or do they not taper enough?

For $100 the T-000 are probably your best bet, idk too much about Cheap Mondays though. New Cures would probably work for that look too, but I'm pretty sure the only black denim APC makes is the New Standard so those don't really apply.

Hey HB.

I just received my thin Finns dry stretch today (29X34)

I was just wondering, how stiff are they suppose to be?

I tried them on but they were really soft.

I remember looking at some Nudies at a store (forgot model) and they were stiff as APC's.

Are the Thin Finns suppose to be stiff too, or am I just being paranoid?

First off I'm not really well-versed on the subject of denim so that should serve as a warning.

I recently picked up a pair of Levi's 511 in size 32. The fit is great but I don't appreciate the skinny-fit tightness(I'm of medium build). I live in Manila but a friend of mine will be going to Tokyo for a short weekend and I heard Uniqlo was a good brand for cheap but quality denim. So if I wanted their slim fit jeans in a size that isn't too tight but not baggy-as-hell, should I stay true to size(32)? These 511's seem to fit me well. And where else can I find cheap, quality denim around Tokyo? Thanks!

and iheartsupreme: you got apc, edwins, or perhaps julian reds. i just got a hoboken big slub no was for $102 us. and they have a couple others that are marked down. but that was a week ago. gl

They're as soft as my Levi 510's that I've had for over a year now.

It's just they're my first pair of raw denim and I thought all raw denim were really stiff when new.

did you get the dry comforts? i think they are supposed to be a bit softer.

staying true to size is good. and if they are too skinny, they should stretch out to a comfortable fit. as far as quality denim around tokyo, there are tons of places, but it will be costly. just stick with the uniqlos for now.

Is it possible to make honey combs and whiskers in pre washed jeans?

I want to on a regular pair of 501's that I just bought... I dont want to spend that much money on jeans until I'm done losing weight so until then I'm just going to work with what I have.
