Hi guys, this'll be my first time buying raw denim. I measured my true waist and am 29.5-30 in. I like my jeans to fit "relaxed," not tight but not loose, if that makes sense. Maybe some APC NS?

I had taken the words out of his mouth and filled it with fart.

apc ns sized down two, wear them for a bit they should stretch out nicely if you want something relaxed. Sizing down one would be more ideal, but in the long run those apcs will stretch.

I think your best bet would be a 26 or a 27 in APC... I am pretty confident your jeans size is a 28? My waist is slightly bigger (30-31"), and I fit into a 26 APC NS. I would highly recommend you to try them on first. If your waist in jeans is a 28" I am sure a 26" waist in APC NS would be perfect, it is sized down 2 tagged sizes, and if you only size down 1 it will stretch a lot and probably be too big.

My APC NS in a 26 have stretched to be about 15.5" and I would be happy to provide pics of proof.

Thank you so much everyone who answered. The main thing is that I want a tapered fit with some upper leg room. I don't like petit standards because thy are apparently extremely tapaered, I want more of a slim/skinny taper. The new cures are pretty much skinny throughout. So I thought that new standards sized down 3 would be most like my description. I would get ns 27 if I have a 30 waist then right?

Note: ideal fit woul be like n&f weird guys, but those don't fade as much, or so I have heard

They do fade well aslong as you buy the deep indigo pair and not the regular ones (although they are more expensive)

Anyone know of a cut that is similar to these Iron Heart's? I'm Looking for something with plenty of thigh room but a nice tight taper to a small leg opening from the knee down.

Imperial Shearers?

I'm fiendin for some blacks. Right now it's a toss-up between Sams (ideally 710bks but I'd do S5000s too, just get em tapered) or Imperial Dukes/Shearers. Thoughts? I kind of feel like I shouldn't break the bank for some bks though, especially since I've got two pairs of indigo in rotation. Is there anything of note that's cheaper than these options, with a long (35" +) inseam and heavy denim (15oz +)?

Why does the weight of the denim matter? Like whether its 8oz, or 16? Is there some specific reason why, or is it just to inform you that they're light or heavy?

I think lot 10s shrink from tagged size, and they're the only lot that does.

I have a question... I bought a pair of used but relatively new lot 11 S710xx's in size 33 (true waist 32). When they came they were stretched to ~35, so I stuck them in a washing machine with no spin / detergent and hottest water for about an hour and a half (only setting that lets you use hottest water). They shrunk down to a nice 32 or so, but after ~3 days they're back to ~35. Previously I've heard people saying to go TTS for a normal fit and +1 for a slightly more relaxed fit, which I wanted, but I didn't expect them to be this big. Can I expect more lasting shrinkage in the future?

If you don't like them return them. If you get the weird guys I would go for the deep indigo ones.

I wanna cop what I think will be my first pair of raw denims(I got a pair of 501 levis and a couple Uniqlos but not sure if they're raw). How do I know if jeans are raw or not? I heard A.P.Cs are pretty good..

Raw jeans are rigid and usually a much darker shade than washed jeans. They don't have any fading, and are usually "slubby" (have irregular streaks of dye running through the denim). They usually have a slight sheen from starch. Walking with them on will initially feel like you're encased in cardboard.

Denim Demon's quality is definitely a step above anything in it's price range. If you're located in Europe, I'd definitely suggest these over brands in the same range (Nudie, APC, Edwin, etc)

ok so I'm confused again lol.

note that I'm a true size 29 waist.

APC's are vanity sized, correct? so size 27 new standard actually measures to a size 29 waist. Now, following the size down 2 rule for newstandards, if I were to get size 25 that would measure to a size 27 waist which will theoretically stretch out to a size 29 waist.

now, I went to the apc store and tried on a size 27 (before i found out they were vanity sized) just for reference. Size 27 fit exactly the way i wanted it to so I was assuming i should buy a size 26 nwe standard in the future so they stretch out to what I wanted. When i tried on size 26 newstandard (vanity sized to 28 waist) I couldn't button the top button, but I know they will stretch.

My question is, for the size down 2 rule do you size down two from your tagged size or the actual waist size? I don't want to buy a size 27 and have it stretch out too much or buy a size 25 and find out i sized down by 4. confused

Go for the Unbranded Denim jeans. They are a bit more than your budget but pretty good value for the price.
