Small DENIM Questions Thread

^ I personally would recommend you just get any denim of your choice and get them personally tapered to your liking.

i worried about getting the legs taken in due to the selvedge lining getting messed up. i'll go with these naked & famous and go to a tailor. thanks!

i think you can ask them to work on the other inseam where the selvedge isn't there on the legs unless they have to work on both. i wouldn't really know though, i've never gotten jeans tailored

does sizing up also create larger leg openings? and vice versa
Jul 05, 2010 @ 22:21
^depends on the denim.
usually it does, sometimes it doesn't.
I know for my apcs sizing up or down, the leg opening is the same.

read the measurement tables.

Does cuffing your jeans past your ankle fuck up the bottom part? (denim that was in the cuff)
Jul 06, 2010 @ 14:49
not really sure what u mean but if u leave it long enough it will leave a line wen uncuffed

does tapering selevdge denim fuck it up?
Jul 07, 2010 @ 10:33
word, id like to know that as well ^^^
Jul 07, 2010 @ 14:29
if ur talkin about losing the visible selvedge then yes, only if u taper from the outseam, if u want to keep it visible then taper from inseam but i think that is harder to get done

The fried is box; the box is fried.

id ask them if they know about selvedge or if they've worked with it before.
if not id be cautious about handing your denim to them.

how fast do imperial duke jeans lose their sheen? (blue)
Jul 08, 2010 @ 14:49
any size 38 wearers have a good recommendation for jeans with a straight leg fit/tapered leg opening? i've had an ongoing battle with getting a pair of jeans i actually love the fit on. i'm looking into sz 38 weird guys, but i fear the leg opening will be to big.

can someone tell me why these looked a lot skinnier when i tried them on at the store
Jul 09, 2010 @ 17:04
^the way you sized and the way they sized in the pic is different.
if you want the fit in the pic, i suggest sizing up one if they were to skinny.

what jeans have a 7.5-7.75 leg opening?... something cheap. i think 511 are less than 7.5 leg opening. the zumiez look interesting but the site doesn't give the leg opening measurement

Jul 10, 2010 @ 08:58
@nvus, really depends what your waist size/tag size of the denim.
reasearch different denim and check the measurement charts.

I'm a true size 30 waist. Will Raw Levi's Ltd Ed 501 1947 Jeans fit true to size? Also whats the price they go for brand new?
Jul 11, 2010 @ 01:37
I know raw indigo denim can bleed but what about grey? Would it be noticeable on a white shoe?
Jul 11, 2010 @ 21:00
I heard LVC 1947 501 Rigid jeans were STF and that I should size up two. I am a true size 30 waist, ya'll suggest I size up to a 32 waist?

I'm trying to get a fit similar to this dude:

Can anyone tell me when is the best time to soak my APC's? And what's the difference between the effects of it being a hot or cold soak? Thanks in advance!
Jul 11, 2010 @ 21:39
hot soaking probably will make them shrink more and lose more dye. and i can't really tell you the best time to soak them. a lot will try to say go 6 months or so. but if they're dirty, soak/wash when you need to. if you're just soaking because you want to then it might be best to hold off until you need to. but that's just my opinion. soak them now if you want
Jul 11, 2010 @ 22:18
I see, I've had them since august 09, and I've been giving them moderate wear.... I think a nice soak is in order. So hot is good right?
Jul 11, 2010 @ 22:57
nice, yea, a hot soak is probably good for those
Jul 13, 2010 @ 19:32
anyone know some raw denims that fit like levi's 514? help appreciated
Jul 14, 2010 @ 18:57
