Hi, I'm a true size 28/30
I bought some Nudie TFDS that are 27x32
I know they're made to fit tight but i don't want them too tight on my legs and thighs.
I have chicken legs, i'm 5'8 125lbs will i be ok?
February 19, 2010 @ 13:55:35
^should fit just fine

they are DEEP indiglo and 15oz

where as these are a lil lighter in color and are 13oz http://www.nakedandfamousdenim.com/?page_id=79

if i wanna get a couple pairs of pants tapered, would do I say?

for example: I would like to get my khakis tapered like my apcs, context says 7.5, what does that mean? 7.5 inches? or is that the circumference? tobi says 16"? no clue what to tell them :|

7.5 would be accross, 16 is the circumference, tell them you want it 7.5 accross and bring both the khakis and apc's to better explain yourself.

^great cut, crap quality

Yeah I feel like their overpriced.
What other jeans would you compare their vintage slims to?
February 20, 2010 @ 23:49:52

probably 501's bought at your waist size or 1 size up, ive had jcrew denim complete waste of money. i love everything else they have though.
February 22, 2010 @ 03:04:11
are levi 514s good with forming honeycombs and whiskers?
February 22, 2010 @ 18:25:51
what do you guys think about esef sky's? worth my 110ish?
February 24, 2010 @ 20:21:23
Hey, I'm looking into new denim and right now I'm down to two options: Skull 5010's or Eternal 811's. The price isn't an issue, just wanna hear your opinions and what you guys would pick. Thanks!
February 24, 2010 @ 20:43:07
it would just be personal preference, its like asking us which car to get. get what you want.
both are really nice, personally i would go with the skulls. from what ive been reading in the eternal thread, progress is somewhat slow? but id be happy with either/or. thats just my 2 cents.

And thanks to kwan, your post really helped me out smokeyface

Can anyone help me out?

I have a pair of UO Unbranded Denim, I've worn them about 20 times but after buying some Levi's 511's I hate the leg opening on the Unbranded denim.

Levi's 511 are usually 7" leg opening but the Unbranded are 7.5", now I'm planning on getting my UB tapered to a 7".

I was wondering is there anything else I should mention to the tailor to do ?
February 25, 2010 @ 00:56:01
If you like the selvage look and want to maintain it, be sure to specify for them to work with the inseam rather than the outseam.
February 25, 2010 @ 01:26:53
Debating between Flat Head F310's or PBJ XX-005's. Any opinions or suggestions for either of the two? Thanks!
February 25, 2010 @ 01:29:51
^don't size down on the xx-005. Go true on them.

A good tailor can work on the outseam without messing with the selvedge...at least I believe mine did.
February 25, 2010 @ 18:19:59
Nevermind the taper on the Unbranded are 8, would going down to 7" look awkward?
February 25, 2010 @ 18:28:39
^ that would be like petite standards.
seems like it would be awkward, but probably not. pretty big jump though
id go 7.25 but thats just me.

Widening the inside of the outseam would be the only way to get a taper there. The selvage would still be intact, but it'd look fuggz.

i tried on a pair of 38W 36L and thats the correct fit i want them to end up being after shrinkage, fading, stacks, etc.

u guys have more experience than me in this, and im trying to get two pairs of 501 STF's so according to my size, what size should i order online?

also, one of the pairs i want to fade in more, so i guess that requires more soaks . . . BUT does that mean that with each soak (and for how long) the denim will continue to keep shrinking, even after the initial 30 min soak im going to do for both?

thanks guys.

Majority of the shrinkage will happen in the 1st and 2nd soaks, also soaking doesn't give you more fades, how much work you put them in will. Soaking will prevent crotch blowouts, rips etc because without letting your jeans hit water it weakens the material. Also people usually soak whenever the denim starts to stink, just use woolite with cold water, don't necessary have to soak them if you do this method.

I hope that helped
February 27, 2010 @ 14:35:48
Does just soaking the crotch area prevent crotch blowouts, or do i have to soak the whole thing?
February 27, 2010 @ 15:26:59
^doing just the crotch will help soften the denim so there is less of a chance of blowout, but nothin can full prevent crotch beyond not wearing them. If ur really worried about blowout, just reinforce them.

Does the tagged size on a pair of jeans refer to the inches in the waist?

I'm asking because in the fit thread, I'm seeing people put for the "Actual waist size" to be things like 17.5 inches. So I'm getting confused.

For example, if I measure a 32 inch true waist, would I typically be buying a Size 32 on a pair of jeans?
February 28, 2010 @ 23:24:39
1. yes it does... unless youre buying womens jeans then those are like 0/2/4/6... then its not
2. actual waist size would be 35 in that example youve given. the 17.5 would be the measurement of the waist laid flat.
3. and it would have to depend on the brands... so look into that.

oh... wait yeah, what solix said. sorry totally misconstrued it.
March 01, 2010 @ 12:01:29
Tagged size is actually just the literal size on the tag. Actual size is the actual measurement. Though a pair might be tagged a certain size, they might not necessarily have those measurements.

And yes, for the most part, you'd get your tagged size.

Anyone ever got their jeans tapered or tailored at a dry cleaner place? I've looked up on yelp but the best rated one are charging 35 for tapering while the dry cleaner place around me is only charging 15. He also said do I want to taper both sides, what does that mean?
March 01, 2010 @ 22:12:25
i believe both sides just means he'd be cutting a little bit off the inseam and outseam side for the taper job
