how do u size on PS?
i currently have a pair of NC that i sized down one on, but it's pretty damn tight. i don't mind it, but for my next pair i wanna try something slightly looser. key word: slightly, i don't want it to be too much looser, like NS, so i was wondering how to size on PS since they seem like the next fit up for a looser fit above NCs.

I feel like a lot of people don't know their actual measurements before they say things like "I sized down three/four/five", so sizing advice is always sort of sketchy.

On a related note, I'm currently looking for a pair of PS in 26 so hit me up if you have a pair you're trying to sell.

Hehe, sorry Scotty. Just concerned about getting as close to the 'perfect' fit for me because I don't spend $175 on jeans every day. And I did not see the replies from before, so I apologize for that.

I'm a 34" or 33" waist, as I mentioned before, but would you agree that it's better to go with the safer route to size down 3" to 31? Just in case I'm really a 34" waist, I would end up with a Levi 514 fit, and if I'm really a 33" waist, I'd end up with more of a Levi 511 fit - is my logic correct?

damn dude, just go to the shop and try that shit on.

Like i stated before u cant compare other denim to APC.. Every denim has different cut, plus the vanity sizing and stretching with apc makes even more difficult.. So here i you answer, DO NOT ASK AGAIN! Go grab a loose tape measure, measure your exact waist, if u cant find one go to macys and have em measure it.. If u looking for a slim look then go down 2 on NS but if u are looking for more a slimmer look go down 3.. Its that simple, now for length they are all 34 inches in length and will stack.. So if u have short legs, go get them hemmed... There is your answer, if u cant comprehend this then just dont even bother buying a pair!

For someone that's 5'7", what are the chances that I'll need to have my APC's hemmed or cuffed? And do they require a pre-soak before wearing or do most of you guys just wear them and allow them to fade over time? Probably gonna order these this week.

It's obvious you don't like to listen, but just do this...

- Measure your waist with a fabric tape measure....if your waist measures at 34 than get a size 31. (if it measures 33 than get a size 30, etc..)

- at 5'7" you'll probably need to get them hemmed (I'm 6-1 and decided to get mine hemmed- not a fan of cuffing)

- No need to do any initial soaking...just buy and wear them for as long as you can until too dirty to keep wearing.

New here, but appreciate all of the info...both informative and entertaining.

I'll share my APC experience.

About a year ago purchased a pair of APC Rescues...it was my first pair of raw denim jeans and bought them without much research. Just wanted to experiment with a nice pair of jeans.

Bought them and took a while to get used to the rigid-feel, but after a few wears softened up and stretched nicely. Haven't worn them much over the past year, but recently broke them out of the closet to re-evaluate after reading some of these threads.

Here are my takeaways...
- my true waist measurement is 35" with a fabric tapemeasure (i'm 6-1, 192lbs)....my APCs are size 31 (so I basically sized down 4), and the waist, butt, crotch and thighs fit great.

- The leg fit I hated now as too straight leg and baggy...just got them tapered from 10.5" in the thigh, down to 8.25" knee, down to 7.25" ankle opening. I imagine that these now will have the cut similar to Petite Standards.

- Also got the length hemmed about 1.5" off....with the smaller ankle opening they still get some stacks, but not a ton where it looks sloppy to me.

- No washing whatsoever at this point. With the new fit, plan to wear these as much as possible and not worry about them touching water until they get overly dirty. For me that is going to be a LONG time, since I only wear jeans Fri, Sat. and Sun due to work environment (business casual)

Looking forward to seeing how they progress over time.

The waist/hip area where I like my pants to sit fluctuates around 34"-34.5". My main criteria is a 7.5-7.75" leg opening. Is it advisable to get tag sz 30 NS or 31 NC? It sucks that the leg opening difference between a 30 and 31 in NS is 0.5" jump (based on Context measurements).

^ that's sizing down 4 on ns's and down 3 on nc's... They would be the worst idea to go down that much in sizing! U actually want to get a petite standard size 32, the leg opening is 7.75 and u only going down 2 on a PS which is normal and think you will like the out come cause it's exactly what u are looking for in measurements!

I'd say you're on track with a 31 NC or 30 NS....it really depends on what look you want. New Cure will have a lower rise from crotch to waist so if you like to sag without looking like you have a load in your pants this would be the way to go. But, if you wear your jeans at regular waist height the NS might be the way to go. NS will overall give you more leg room than NC.

Looks like both have the same leg opening that you're looking for...
30 NS: leg opening 7.5"
31 NC: leg opening 7.5

As noted above I sized down 4 on my Rescue's and they fit great now in the waist, butt, crotch, thighs (and then ended up getting them tapered pretty extensively from thigh to ankle).

Not sure about sizing down on NS's and NC's, etc.

^ yeah those are rescues which is a regular fit pant.. U can size down to 4 cause they have alot of room in the leg.. Sizing down 3 on an nc is the wrong choice.. U won't be able to button em and they will be to tight to actually walk in.. Reason I said the PS would be a perfect for him cause he only has to size down 2 which normal for PS and the leg opening is what he wants 7.75.. Overally will be better in the end...

Even sizin down two on PS is a size too much for me, I'm a 28 tts and I couldn't button up the 27 ps all the way and the thighs were skin tight
