How harmful is it to soak jeans constantly? I'm under 10 wears in my slim jims but I've already soaked them once after the second wear because they got pretty messed from partying and I'm thinking of soaking them again because of a party last night. I got some weird make up or something smeared on them and they look pretty filthy.

^ I wouldn't recommend soaking that much with Nudies. They tend to lose indigo easily and the fit isn't very nice afterwards.

What about a cold soak? They didn't seem to lose any indigo after the hot soak and a cold soak shouldn't alter the fit...

I have Levis 520 (slouch skinny) that are relatively new. But they've been stretching in the waist and the jeans overall are getting loose.

I've worn them about 10x only. Should I do a hot soak? I just want them back to their original state when I bought them (they're not raw).

And if so, how long should I soak?

You don't have much to lose. Pre-washed jeans hardly fade as much in comparison to raw denim. washing or soaking in hot should shrink em to fit tighter.

I was wondering, if i got my jeans tailored. Could he possibly make the rise lower? I bought a cheap pair of grey wrangler but the rise is way to high for my liking. I wanna go from this to this

I love the fit of thse skulls, and didnt wanna dish out 100+ just for grey jeans im gonna wear casually.

rise is the hardest thing to change.... the tailoring will cost more than the jeans did, and will not be as good as the original... if a tailor will even do it for you.

is it a good idea to give new jeans a hot soak before wearing them (at all) to get the shrinking out of the way?

and is it possible to focus the shrinking on the length and not the waist, by only soaking below the waistline?

oh and finally, when soaking should I turn the jeans inside out?

thanks HB

I've had my NS for about 2 months. But my stacking is a little off on my right leg. If I soaked that part of the leg for a bit, starched it, and then ironed it, you guys think that'll sorta fix it once it reshapes?

Love Hate - Yes, warm of hot will do the job
rtst102 - not worth the trouble and time, just let the stacks be

when machine washing raw denim after 6 months of wear, do you flip them inside out or just throw them in?

I think it is about time to wash my APC's, it has been about 4 months of wear and i can notice some initial fading.

what would be the best way, while minimizing shrinkage (will they even shrink in a cold soak? ), as well as still maintaing a resonable amount of color.

im sure you could wait at least another 2 months to get better fades because you are just starting to see some fading. I dont see a reason to wash it when you want minimum shrinkage / indigo loss

I wouldn't worry too much about the jeans fading... Let it just fade, It reflects your lifestyle, so ofcourse if your not as active as other ppl theyll fade much slower, but probably more subtly, which imho looks much nicer than stark contrasty jeans
If you really want fades like that so bad though, id suggest predistressed, but yea, if you wanna fade raw denim that quickly in a few months, walk more in them, bike, skate, so long as your active it will fade at a much quicker rate
