ive never really been into denims. i wouldnt have considered myself "out" of them either.

but lately ive been browsing the denim forum
just reading.

and i find myself very interested. alot of these denims are extremely amazing. in fit and quality.

i run across a few threads that dont go into detail but do discuss stretching, shrinking, soaking, starching ect.

can somebody elaborate on these. summarize
anything that will help a denim noob.

id like to try a few of these techs to some denims i currently own.

to be done as soon as you buy a pair
of jeans... let's say i just bought
some even stevens.....
i just got home.... whats the first thing
i should do w/ them?

put them on. unless ur getting sugarcanes or another japanese brand (or levi stf) their pre sunk and dont require any type of soak or whatever. just dont wash them until u like how they look. its actually pretty simple, if u had some stf's u would know it, inseams of over 37 in and just goofy fit.

he can soak before he wears if he wants, it gets rid of startch.

he can wash them whenever he feels like it.

also you could put an object like wallet or tin can in your back pocket for back pocket fade

its really simple.

wear the damn things and you will see things happen to them.

soaking takes out starch, dye, smell, and it shrinks it in the beginning.
fading is obviously the fading of the denim, crotch, honeycombs(behind the knees) by the knees, wallet pocket and anywhere else.
my advice is just wear the damn things and see waht happens. dont purposely wack em but live in the moment sort of thing. and see waht happens. see what happens...man i cant sleep. lol

also wear some beaters with them at first to see if they bleed, if they do then tape then suckers up

stf are preshrunk? i thoguht u shoudl soak them to fit ur body type and so ur creases and shit dun get displaced when u wash.

why would you put a tin can in your pocket?..

anyways.. Loadedpencil, starch makes your jeans stiffer. I generally don't touch it. People on the ranch just wore them, and their jeans were beautiful.

ah i c...his wording/grammar was weird...anyways...the tin can is for a circular pocket fade...its not like a big tin can, jsut a small one like lipbalm.

or you could use smokeless tobacco, instead of faking it with lip balm/being a tool
