Bought a set of Levi's last summer (2 jeans and 1 chino) and 2 of them are beginning to fade rapidly. I usually machine wash cold and use a towel when ironing them. Should I be doing something else? I could do dry cleaning once every few weeks with the next set of pants that I buy but that's tenative for right now.

nino himself ... my nigga no need to wash denim as often as you are

plenty of options tho .. google freezer method, rinsing, febreeze them joints, etc...

also its just a thing that comes with cheap denim.. cop some APCs, N&Fs, Nudies, etc whatever you like the most.. you will LIKE the fades since they will fit your body etc, and you can enjoy breakin em in for a couple years then resell for more than they cost new LOL (APCs especially)

Also, does ironing help or not if I want to keep the color in my jeans?

I would say use amild detergent for washing jeans and before washing put you jeans upside down in machine. Dry cleaning is the best option most dry cleaners offer denim cleaning services.
