First of all, accusing everyone that don't wash their jeans to be hipsters is just plain ignorant. Second of all, what people do with their pair of raw denim is their own problem. Giving constructive criticism is one thing, but being rude is another thing.

I use no detergent, just cold water either tub or washer.

just spray them down with febreze and throw them in the sun for a bit.

Awesome, so what is the deal with hand washing? Do you do it inside out, or just agitate the jeans in the soapy water? Do you need to rinse them after at all in separate water?

I hate to sound like a n00b with this, but is there hand-washing instructions?

I'd just hate to do something wrong and fuck up my jeans. . .

Doing it inside out well lessen the indigo lost in the process. In our washing tutorial, we added detergent to lukewarm water, mixed it around and let the jeans soak. Choosing to agitate them or not is a personal preference!

Be careful with the inside out process
Some guy on here tried to flip them back while they were still kinda wet and the roughness of the denim scraped of another part of the denim so there was a spot on the jeans that looked faded

Yeah, I kinda agree. you dont have to be an extremist when it comes to not washing. I mean, I've also got nice contrast but I've worn them for maybe 3 months before the first wash. And after the first wash the foundation is there, I wash them every month or so. No need to keep them out of the washing machine after the first wash.

so i don't know shit about bacterial science, but it seems like once you reach the point of having the "maximum" amount of bacteria on something it would make it deteriorate faster than any point leading up to then.

so in that first month lets say you're building up to 1000 bacteria from 0, and in months 2-infinity your jeans have 1000 bacteria on them. wouldn't it work out such that your denim would deteriorate at a higher rate when there are constantly 1000 bacteria? like i said, i dunno anything about how the science of bacteria work, so i could be completely wrong.
