I'll go against the grain here but I'll try to be neutral as well:

I got some GAP Skinny Selvedge last month. I thought I wasn't going to be able to fit on em since I don't usually wear skinny (I don't have slim legs, always been athletic). The GAP Selvedge fits me like a glove with some room for my manhood to breath. It stretches to an inch and it's all gravy after that. I went on my natural size. If you're on the leaner side you might want to size down.

As for fading: It's turning out very good. I'm wearing em as much as I can. I can see some fading on the legs now and the butt area after a month's wear.

Unbranded Denim - I'm still trying very hard to figure out my cut on these. I basically have gone through Tapereds and the Straight cuts. My conclusion: while the denim is much more thicker and the jeans are much more affordable, I think they could've made the seat a tad slimmer for both and the pockets smaller. The leg for both cuts are about an inch bigger than GAP Selvedge.

I have not tried the Skinny but I really think I won't fit on them. Unbranded has a tighter fit from waist-thigh area and I've already tried on sizing one up but I found it to be yet again loose on the leg (I wish they could be an inch slimmer on the leg). I'm trying to look for some size 31 Tapereds in Black and Grey right now. I really think this would fit me very well.

Overall, I like the way my GAP Selvedge FITS( I wish they made them in Black too) though I do love the stiffness of the Unbranded Denims. For $40 you can't go wrong with the Unbranded.

GAP are ridiculous thin. Unbranded anyday, unless you find a pair of GAP's from like 07-08

Uniqlo MIJ Raw selvedge, can be had for $50 and is (imo) better than UO, which is better than Gap.

The new Gap's feel just like any other "raw/rigid" cheapo jeans. If you're getting gap, you gotta get lucky and fine a pair of early 21st century 1969's (before they turned all their Gap jeans to '1969') used. They were "Made in Italy" with hidden rivets, super thick/hairy denim, and a serial number for each pair. IIRC you had to size down two.

if you can't decide and are on a tight budget just wait for a sale or something.
i just got n&f's on sale for $40.

but still i'd go for the unbrandeds if sales are unheard of for the next few weeks.

I have those in straight fit (6 months) and the denim is pretty thin (good cotton weight for summer). They are one wash so fading is very slow, maybe even not that much at all in areas you want (thigh, combs, stacks). It's nice if you like the dark look though...

yeah i have to agree with you, unbranded jeans are raw denim, but i prefer N&F denim because the're more stylish.

I got a pair of gap selvage denim got $17 today and I've worn a lot of selvage denim in my day. They jean quality may not be the best but for the price its a steal. Apc are probably the best as far as thickness, they pretty heavy and nudie quality is great. Even thou I will say I like Levi's premiums the best out of the jeans I've had they were so nice. Old heshers tailored perfectly to me, they're hard to find now thou. If anyone's looking to buy a new pair of nudies size 30x30 (never worn) only hemmed, average joes or a perfect wear apc denim, warn to perfection 32x30 new statement and also a vintage pair of 505 1960s remake by levis vintage co.
