Worn mine every day for 1,5 months now. Putting the jeans through the test of Finnish winter, heh. I wear size 38 Momotaros which fit just right.

Hi guys,

A little info on a new line from Momotaro Jeans intended for the Summer 2010 launch. We introduced the collection at the Terminal-2 during the Copenhagen Fashion Week and we're hoping to get your initial thoughts on the collection.

For the Spring and Summer 2010 Momotaro Jeans is introducing Europe Label, lines of denim that feature the essence of vintage denim.

Original (Raw, 15 oz Grand Blue and Japan Blue) Denim Fabrics from Momotaro Jeans that use warp yarn recreating deep indigo shades Momotaro is known for. The Grand Blue line is woven with warp yarn that uses indigo and black woven yarn.

The original (Raw, 13 oz Melange) gray colored Denim Fabric is woven with warp yarn made of natural and dyed top gray cotton thus called "Moku Gray"-yarn.

This season Momotaro Jeans is also introducing a line of washed jeans (14 oz) that feature fading lines on the thigh and at the back of the knee which are made individually by hand. Complete hand finishing makes every pair one of a kind. The jeans are made all in-house in Kojima, Okayama.

Melange Denim

Washed Deep Blue Denim

You can find more pictures and details on the collection on our blog.

Below an approximate size chart in centimeters and a pic of raw 0701 Vintage Label Momotaro Jeans pre and post soaking. The jeans fit pretty much true to the dedicated waist size and I wouldn't recommend sizing down.

No problem! The pic on the right was taken straight after the soaking and drying. The jeans only get better with the wear, heh.

^ Liking the fit of those 701s, that pic might have just put them into the running with Eternal 811s for my denim pick up this summer

I guess this one could have a thread of its own, but since it has some nice footage of Momotaro Jeans, will post it here, heh. It's footage of a denim documentary, Jeans, a Faded Blue Planet.

Hello, I am choosing between the 0701 and 0705BIG RAW, Does anyone have experience with the 0705 stretching?

I am confused about the 0701 because the measurement charts are different in BIG, Contex and Nordic, so .... if anyone here has a pair, could you please post the measurements pre soak to see which chart fits better?

thanks a lot and kind regards

been having a tough time deciding which cut to go with so I bit the bullet and just planned a trip to NYC to hit up BIG. Best way to find the perfect fit is to try them on.

I posted details on the Momotaro Jeans x KIKS TYO collaboration due this upcoming February on our blog.

The denim collaboration will feature 14.7 oz denim from Momotaro Jeans and the Going to Battle Label approach is chosen as a part of KIKS TYO's SS2011 military based "squad" theme.

No love for Momotaro here?

Boards like Sufu and SF have threads containing hundreds of pages about this brand. Why not here?

I have a pair too, the Vintage Label 0201. And a pair of G007-MB's is on their way to my house. Should arrive next week.

Got my first pair of momo's big question...should I wear them for a couple months with no soak or wash, or give them a warm soak to get the initial shrink and then wear for couple month nonstop? They are raw 701s

What's the deal between Momotaro and Japan Blue? Sort of confused on it even after reading articles.

From what I read in this article: www.nordicdenimhouse.com/blog/2011/01/momotaro-by-japan-blue/

Japan Blue Group owns both Momotaro and Japan Blue Jeans.

Momotaro is supposed to be the higher quality/vintage line under JPG, while Japan Blue is the lower-end line for mass consumers?

Selling (if my sig still lists it, it's still available!): N&F Japan Heritage 32, N&F x Big John 31 and 32

You are right, Japan Blue Group owns both brands and it's pretty much as you said, Japan Blue being a brand targeted to mass markets with lower price point. Momotaro Jeans again is higher end pure vintage denim brand.

The brands' positioning is still a work in progress I might say. Most of the people I have talked about this have also expressed their confusion. I mentioned this to Momotaro Jeans as well but as said, they are different brands and with Japan Blue being still new to the markets, still looking for its place. I am sure the marketing will further differentiate the brands in the future. The recent Momotaro Jeans by Japan Blue line does not really help with the confusion though. The line-up features Momotaro Jeans style, labels and approach mixed with Japan Blue. It is a collaboration as Momotaro Jeans calls it, Japan Blue products marketed with Momotaro Jeans' name. Collaborations are cool but these types of collabs can really confuse the customers. smile

Just ordered some jb0701. Size 29. Should be here next week. Only serious denim I've been rocking for the past 3 years has been A.P.C. Decided to venture out with these. They look promising.

pretty crazy this popped up, I was fortunate enough to be working and to meet the overseas managers for Momotaro last night. The ability to see the denim and hear the background from them really changed my perspective.

The pricing on Japan Blue is great, right with APC including the collab of Momotaro and Japan Blue.

Yeah. I stopped through the Denim Bar in Va yesterday because my friend wanted to get some 3sixteens and they said that the creator/manager of the company came over to drop off some denim to sell and to work out some deals for sales.

My phone camera won't do justice but they fit exactly how I wanted them too. My friend is going to take pictures of them sometime later. And I will be sure to post pics.
