Nice to see an update, looking good!
Did he purposely cut the hem? It's really hard to rip open a chainstitch hem from constant wearing.
Thanks, man!
I didn't purposely cut the hem. I actually have no idea what happened. I don't skate, hike, or do anything extreme with these jeans on. I noticed the rip when I was taking photos for this post: www.withoutwash.com/2011/07/week-30-review. I plan on hemming the jeans after the 1 year is over, so it's not too bad, but it does suck because the rip could get worse and make the opening of the legs look bad.
I just got in my black tapered and I'm satisfied with the fit, although I'd compare the tightness to that of the 511s. Only problem is that I went TTS, yet I can't button any of the buttons cept the bottom one. It's also a lil tight on the crotch area. This is from buying a size 30, and I'm only 5'7 too. Should I size up or will it stretch a little bit after a while(it's stiff as hell right now btw)?
edit: and no, I'm not fat or big waisted or anything
I feel your pain man, this has happened to me a bunch. Stretching is normally around 1-1.5 inches and usually you would want to barely be able to button them all up, not button 1 up, for a good fit. So with that said I think it'd be best to probably get the bigger size. Sometimes sizing charts are messed, sometimes you get a different run and they are a little off, sometimes people measure wrong, there are a bunch of things that could happen it just sucks when they do, but it's better to get a pair that fits properly. The jeans will also become a lot softer as you wear them and wash them so dont worry about that too much.
