question about UB's. I got a sz 34 tapered and the legs fit fine, but the seat was beyond tight and I couldnt do all of the buttons. I can barely sit in them. I exchanged them for a sz 36 online and the waist and seat fit great, but now the legs are super baggy and dont fit how I would like. Should I try and go for a 34 in slim straight instead, or just scrap the whole unbranded idea?

You probably shoulda kept the 34s, the waist will stretch a bit the more you wear them.

I sized down 1 on some slim straights to a 33 and couldn't do the top button for the first week.
They fit fine now.
I'll throw up some pics tomorrow

sorry for the crappy pics. Im 5'5, so I cuffed them on the inside. I plan on taking them to a guy who can chain stitch hem them, and also see about getting them tapered more

you should look into getting some N&F WGs on sale . . . it shouldnt cost you that much more, and you will have pants that fit in the waist and will be smaller in the thigh. check the measurements on blueowl for WG in a 34w vs the measurements of unbranded in a 36w.

Honesly, I don't think that tapering will be necessary.
Just have it hemmed to an appropriate length, leaving a slight break, and they'll look much better.
Right now they look really bad because of the excessive bunching at the cuffs.
Since you're short, stacks/bunching make you look even shorting and fatter.

Nudies are overrated and overpriced for average quality jeans.
Go for Imperials, Samurais, Flat Heats... etc. Legit Japanese denim.

Normally people start with either UB, NF or APCs, and then go to one of the high quality stuff.

Honestly though, quit over thinking it. Just get a pair of Unbranded.
You might end up not enjoying raw denim.
Same pair of jeans day in, day out dude.

nudies are too expensive for what they are, they fall apart before you can get good fades

slim straights down 1 (33)

It looks wide on the right side because of the angle I'm at
I'm pretty stocky/muscular so I thought this would be better than trying to size up on skinny or tapered

I just really have a problem with the spaciousness in the thighs.

question for you guys. Does the "rise" refer to the seat of the pants ( how much they ride up) because im thinking about just getting a 36 in the skinny

just wear 'em , break 'em in , and soak 'em . denim won't always fit perfectly as soon as you get them .. they'll slowly fit to the way you want the more you wear them .

Looking to get a pair of UB's as fat jeans till I manage to lose the gut. Measuring around where the jeans would sit and at the navel both lead to around 36 inches. Trying to compare the measurements on Blueowl but I can either go TTS with the skinnies, 34 or 36 with the tapered. Nothing in between so I'm wondering what exactly would yall recommend for someone that's 5' 11" with 11.5" on the thighs and 172 lbs with the gut hanging out.

depends on the fit . . . order the skinnies and 34 tapered to see what fits best. get "the 4 hour body" by tim ferris to get rid of the gut asap. you can be down 20+ pounds in 2 months before your denim fades.

If you see how mine fit those are sized down 1 from TTS
but I'm 5'9 and almost 180
the 301 might be a bit loose(even sized down 1) if you are as skinny as it sounds like you are

Are the skinny tight on the leg? like levis 510

Also is the only difference between the tapered and skinnys the thigh area on the tapered?

tapereds are like the slim's except have...a taper
skinny fit more like 511's if you size right on them...but most people go up 1

For the skinny fit should I size up on these? I'm an actual size 29, so should I be looking into a pair of size 30s?

I would recommend +1.
I normally wear size 32, and size 33 Skinnies are perfect for me.
