Jun 09, 2010 @ 11:07

I know the MIJ and selvedge are both sanfordized but has anybody had any luck shrinking them with a hot soak?
Jun 09, 2010 @ 16:22
and I can't really go wrong with buying the MIJ selvedge right? I mean is there huge difference in quality between the MIJ and the red leather patch ones?
Jun 09, 2010 @ 19:38
^ Red leather patch ones will fade much better. MIJ's are EXTREMELY stubborn to fade.

Here's a pair of MIJ's after about 1 year:
a pair of the japan joints. about a year of wear two washes.

And here's some S-000 (Red tab's) after about a year:
share some pictures of my friends uniqlo selvage denim. washed frequently, for about a year?

they both fade nicely though imo.
Jun 09, 2010 @ 21:03
Those are BY FAR the most faded pair of MIJ's I've ever seen. Supposedly the S-000 (Red Tab's) shed indigo like no other.
Jun 11, 2010 @ 17:13
I got a pair of dark greys s-001 for sale

Check the sig only looking for 20 shipped

HOW did you manage to get the whiskers???

my MIJ's are fucking soft now, the stiffness left the denim a week into breaking them in, and the indigo is so dark.

did you use starch?
Jun 15, 2010 @ 17:19
I would like to know if these are considered raw or not:

They are selvedge S-001s

They have a visible selvedge coin pocket and zipper fly.

Thanks!
Jun 15, 2010 @ 17:27
^ They are raw, but they are not as good of quality as the MIJ's
Jun 15, 2010 @ 17:48
^ Thanks. I picked em up while I was in NY in February. They had a sale so I couldn't say no. It's my first venture into raw denim territory.

This confuses me. So in the shop, when you see the ones labelled UJ and the ones labelled Made In Japan, they really know to do that because they've been produced differently?

And yeah, in other news, I just bought some UJs. I fucking hate buying new clothes. I think this is my first raw pair, but they feel sooooooooo stiff. Like, I've worn skinny jeans that didn't feel this tight -- the rigidity amps it up. But it looked so good I bought it.

Soooooooo is there a chance -- since I searched the thread for "stretch" -- that the UK Uniqlo has different qualities than elsewhere? I hope not, but it'd be good to hear from someone who knows more (or enough to make an informed guess).

Oh, and something to contribute to the suspicion that different Uniqlo shops have different stocks is that I have a button fly (and no visible selvedge coin pocket), but there's no "Made In Japan" labelling, even though it's clear they are made in Japan because of the UJ logo.

If you have a pair of selvage Uniqlo's with a button fly and no visible coin pocket, then you got the MIJ's. Even though some of them have the small UJ tag on the inside, they're still MIJ's. You'd easily be able to tell the difference between the UJ's and MIJ's, MIJ's are MUCH stiffer.

Or, you know, for the people who got UJs:

Alright, cool.
Jun 18, 2010 @ 18:49
Question, are t-000's skinny?

Jun 24, 2010 @ 15:01
i have a pair of the red tabs, i really like them. good solid workhorse denim. i think the quality is on point.
Jun 24, 2010 @ 15:34
^ You're lucky man, where did you get them? Or did you get them when they released a couple years ago?
Jun 27, 2010 @ 02:27
Since I really like the grey uniqlo jeans with the gold stichting I've been looking for the s001 version but cant find any. The only ones I can find are the gray with gold stitchin t001 model. How should i size for a 511 esque fit

Jun 30, 2010 @ 22:31
Yes sir.
Jul 01, 2010 @ 02:58
I apologize if this has been answered before.

2 months ago I bought a pair of UQ S002 in dark blue selvage (red stripe), donut button, cost around 3990Y ($40), Made in China. Does anyone know if these are actually RAW? Or maybe One Wash?
Jul 01, 2010 @ 02:59
BTW, free hemming at UQ in Japan is awesome. Finished 2 pairs of my pants in 15 minutes, no joke! Compare that to a couple of days for UQ in NY.
Jul 01, 2010 @ 03:12
ima goto the store on sat to checks then =]
