I am still sorting through my stuff, but I thought I'll give a west coast perspective on the launch.
Taking a quick glance at the crowds who showed up for the CdG collection and I could immediately tell the vast difference compared to the Roberto Cavalli one. Gone were the family mother types and giddy teenagers and instead replaced with a more fashion forward demographic, as I'd expect the collaboration to gear towards. Also a lot less women than the previous launch, which explains the large amount of stock left for women after doors opened. Popular items like blazers, long coats, and even the polka dot dress shirts were left on the racks with good size runs. In comparison the men's stuff was pretty much wiped clean right off the bat, save a large pile of generic white and beige shirts. Slim pickings left I'm afraid.
Most popular were the accessories of course. From what I could see we had the fragrance, the polka dot scarf, 10 of the polka dot bags, some of the wallets, the fedora, and the polka dot shoes. Not as well stocked compared to the larger stores like New York or San Francisco, but it was enough to whet the appetites of the eagerly queuing public.
There were a huge number of staff on the floor though. By huge I mean almost outnumbering the people who were lining up.
here in toronto, the line up was mad, good thing i went there early and snatch up some items. the rain was bad. copped the digonal button shirts(navy/ blue). if interested pm me. who else went?
