couple suggestions for meals (approximate cost per person in brackets):
-Chill Winston ($30) - a nice lounge/bar (gets pretty packed on the weekends)
-Kintaro ($10) - famous ramen (Japanese noodle) place; good for lunch
-West ($60+) - good but very $$$
-Guu Izakaya ($20) - Japanese izakaya; might want to get there early to avoid waiting
-db Bistro Moderne ($30-40) - It's a little outside downtown; famous for their burgers
-Rodney's Oyster Bar ($20) - Go during happy hour for awesome and cheap oysters
-Cheesecake etc ($15) - best cheesecake in town
clubs:
-Republic
-Caprice
Activities:
-stantley park, capilano suspension bridge, yaletown & gastown, robson street
as far as clubs go, Please don't listen to this guy. Caprice and Republic are two of the gayest clubs in the city. Not literally gay, but they are super overpriced, and full of douche bags. I suggest you pretty much stay away from Granville street. (unless you are an affliction douche bag yourself, then by all means go for it)
For clubs, my suggestions:
-Fortune (By far the best club in the city. Best shows, best sound system, etc)
-Post Modern
-Metropole
-Barcelona (Only club on granville I can recommend, I know the owner. But be prepared to pay $$$)
And if you're into the hesh hipster skate scene, the Astoria.
Restaurants?
-Le Crocodile (High end French, the best in the city)
-Don Francescos
-Chambar
-Tojos (If you can afford it, but its probably the best sushi/japanese cuisine you will taste outside of Japan. Be prepared to pay $200 per person NOT including dranks)
-Shiro
-Les faux bourgeois
I could list tons of awesome restaurants.
If you seriously want a guide, id be down to gather a couple of my homies and show you whats up, as long as you guys are chill. I'm pretty much downtown all the time. PM me.
