thinking of upgrading my plan and phone

so do I stay and upgrade with rogers or cancel my contract and hit up wind?

wind is very enticing, good rates on almost anything, no activation fee, no contract, only down side is that you have to pay full price for the phone. that and I have to pay a hefty bundle to cancel my current contract

upgrading with rogers is cheaper, I'm pretty sure there is going to be an upgrade fee or something and an activation fee. but I save a lot from not buying a phone in full and not having to pay the cancellation fee. But What will happen to my old plan?

doubt it,
It is a Dope idea to consider WIND mobile..
But if your not in a "WIND ZONE" you must pay for your services. I.e. txt, calling(both incoming/outgoing.) Until all of Canada and US get coverage I wouldn't switch...

I hear Wind has poor reception, which is why I remain with Rogers. If you spend all your time near their towers, then it is worth considering. I heard that some new companies, don't know if Wind is one of them, would even pay your early cancellation penalty if you switch with them. I look forward to these small companies getting better reception.

I was considering switching from Rogers to Wind, but got a decent retentions plan and decided to stay. Didn't wanna take a chance with Wind's shaky reception and worrying about being in Wind Zones. My plan is currently:

300 anytime minutes
Evenings/Weekends starting at 6pm
2500 text msgs
caller id
voicemail
Unlimited network-to-network calling
500mb data

~$56 after taxes and everything

I switched from bell to wind because bell was offering me crap. Wind sucks on the phones however their plan is cheap as hell.

I got the unbreakable:

Unlimited text/call/data (up to 5 gigs then its only at 512 kb/second)
caller id.... all that shit
unlimited international text
unlimited Canada calling

All within wind zones

For $44.80 per month (taxes included)

The wind zones aren't bad, they cover all the major cities in the lower mainland. As for the shaky reception, i have not had any issues. Just had to restart my phone occasionally for the internet. Otherwise its been pretty solid.

The drawbacks are that:

-iphones do not operate on their frequency if you are an apple fan.

-you have to payout your phone, so no good $0 smartphones

-their phone selection kinda sucks compared to the big 3

However if you save like 20-30 a month over 36 month it's worth it. So depends on whether or not you really want the phones from the big 3 or save on your monthly plan.

it isn't bad. No reception in underground parking though. However for that extra 20-30 you save a month, I think it's worth it.

Rogers sucks imo... My family and I have all had bad experiences with them. Just recently I cancelled my phone contract and they kept sending me bills.

Wind has that unlimited talk, text, data plan for $29 but it shoots up after the first year. Personally I'd go with Mobilicity. Like Wind they are up and coming so their coverage is pretty bad but it's getting better fast and their plan isn't a 3 year contract thing it's month to month. Once their coverage gets better and they get some new phones this $25 unlimited plan is going to be even sicker.
