TINEZ24 = Confirmed Scammer

July 30, 2012 @ 02:12:50
he has no feedback so i decided to start one for him.

i tried to buy is Corduroy camp cap and i had money ready.
He said he wanted it gone today.
his words:

"My address is:

rckr544@aim.com

You can send as gift to avoid paypal fees. I have feedback on iss and ebay.

http://myworld.ebay.com/abrasive777/

Someone else wants this so pretty much whoever gets the payment to me first gets it."

i paid for fees, and i paid first but i did not gift
He then refunded me because "he got a higher offer"
which is a load of bullshit to me at least.
He wanted a gift and i just wasn't doing it.
He can't steal protected money so he had no choice in refunding me.

Even if you don't think he's a scammer. at least you can't deny that he isn't a man of his word.
which is low by itself.

I edited the title because he isn't a confirmed scammer, he just pulled out of the deal with the OP in order to get more money from someone else.

We do prefer that users here pay through the traditional method because then you have the option to dispute a payment with PayPal. The gift option removes all buyer protection. Even when buying from someone with great feedback, there is an obvious risk when you give up buyer protection.

As for TINEZ24, it's always shitty for someone to bail on a deal to try and get more money out of someone else. If you agree to the terms of a deal, then you should honor it. If you wanted to make more money off of it, you should've asked for the price you wanted from the start.

I will PM him and see if I get a response. If I don't get a response from him in a reasonable amount of time, I will suspend his account. Unfortunately, that's about all we can do. As I said before, the gift option removes all buyer protection and is risky even when dealing with a seller with great feedback. There is absolutely no reason for a reliable seller to not accept standard payment + 4%. In my opinion, any seller who insists on receiving payment as a gift should be avoided.

Good luck with the claim guys. Might as well put him on blast on SS and ebay if you can.

After reading all of this, I edited the title to show he is a confirmed scammer and I am going to permanently ban his account. That's about all I can do on this end. Using the gift option forfeits buyer protection, so PayPal won't do anything for you guys. He will still be able to respond to the PM I sent him, he just won't be able to post or make new threads. If he chooses to never respond and make this right, then he'll stay banned.

It sucks because you guys did business with him based on his positive feedback, but I guess he just decided he was going to scam a few of you on those hoodies and went for it. This is why I'm really against the gift option, even when a seller has positive feedback.

i'm the best mayne, i deed it

July 30, 2012 @ 22:20:30
Well, that makes three people he scammed for the hoodie. Better get my refund doe!
July 30, 2012 @ 22:25:42
He's now scammed 3 of us on the same hoodie, this is unbelievable.

Yes.

Programmers should program in an agreement before you post any thread in the marketplace with some warnings about buying/selling.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

July 30, 2012 @ 22:31:56

We have sticky's in each forum in the marketplace with warnings and rules. Mods try their best to stay on top of things and close any threads that don't meet the marketplace requirements. I know I close several threads a day that don't meet the requirements. In this particular case, people were dealing with a seller who did have positive feedback here but suddenly decided to scam people on these sweatshirts. Unfortunately there isn't anything we can do other than warn people about the risks involved when using the gift option on PayPal and advise members to steer clear of any seller who insists on receiving payment as a gift.
