If you're gonna learn stick, do it on your first car since it seems you're gonna get a used car. Don't wanna fuck up with a new car. :b But yeah, definitely go for manual for your first if you're someone who enjoys driving everyday rather than thinking of it as a chore. Manuals are cheaper and will outrun an automatic anyway.
In my opinion, I'd go with an EK rather than an EG. Not just because I like EKs better, but they'll be newer and will be easier to find lower miles and better conditions ones. My friend got a sixth generation Civic (not the hatch but the sedan, same generation as the EK) that only had 30,000 miles on it dirt-cheap like last year from an old grandma who never drove the car. It's beautiful, I love older Hondas.
Si's are the ones that only come in manual. Regular Civics got automatic.
