I like spoiler I feel like it really cleans up the lines of the back end that used to bother me on the other model. Anyone know the mpg?

Pretty damn good for a car that makes 500, and almost 1000 ft/lb of torque (don't know my conversions). I'd buy it.

I'm interested to see how differently it handles from the original. I mean, all the extra weight definitely aint helping, but I'm sure the Audi engineers worked some magic.

The Le Mans overture is quite unnecessary even though the engine is based out of the R10 TDI Le Mans car, which means it'll go forever without breaking down. The engine is slightly bigger than the petrol version so it was moved forward a little bit to maintain weight distribution, although oversteering shouldn't be a problem. Spoke to a journalist who drove that exact same car and he said it was remarkably quiet for a diesel supercar.

22 mpg really? Is that city or highway? That's REALLY good for a car like this, its v12, unless diesel goes a long way... I don't think that'd right? Surely it'd be around 10-15ish mpg? Of course if you can afford this car then gas prices are nothing to you.

Should've tempted him with something a little bit rarer. Or more expensive.

Top Gear proved the R8 to have the best mileage out of the top 5 supercars. I'd sell my skin for one.

that was with the petrol 4.2Litre. The TDI is going to be even better - Massive torque and good fuel economy.

The engine noise is where its going to be let down. Diesel = Tractor! But for more torque than Mary Murphy i wouldn't be complaining cool

you should really come to europe, im guessing at least 80% of the cars to be diesel. although diesel engine sizes are rapidly increasing the mpg rate isnt dropping at a rate of knots. my brother just bought the bmw 335, 3.5litre diesel. cruising at 100mph it will get around 32mpg, and we're talking maybe the fastest diesel on the road at the moment. as for sound, although bm have clearly done a great job with the soundproofing the from outside the engine is still extremely quiet.

bosc0, quit the ignorance and go drive a diesel yourself. id advise a german car for example, not a ford f250 superdutydieselranchqueen. i mean a real diesel car, you'll be suprised. the 'loud diesel engine' is an american myth. drop the gas guzzlers and move on

My dad's got a 08 VW EOS TDI, not quite as loud as our 81 Hilux... but its still no "American myth" in the noise stakes, especially when you put the foot down.
Same as the 1 and 3 series Beemers we had = tractor.

Not hating, love the torque.... just not quite up to speed with the power range yet. Soon, no doubt, soon.....

The only trouble with diesel is cold starts. Diesel has a higher freezing temp compared to petrol but that's only an issue if you live in Iceland or anywhere below freezing for most of the year. Other than that a diesel is just as good as a petrol.

Nope. Audi reworked the noise deadening for the cabin and the engine bay. Plus it's straight from the LeMans TDI race prototype. I don't know if you've heard it but it's not very loud even at high rpm.
