HIDs and bi-xenons are still standard fare for BMW's and most other manufacturers. Most have just started using LED's on their most premium models and even that is most likely an upgradable option. Audi has LED's everywhere in all cars, not just front headlamps and taillights, and they are known for it.

LED's on production cars are fine, but LED's on a Le Mans race car is overkill and the racing commission probably wont even allow it.
