I actually moved to NYC about 3 weeks ago from Los Angeles. I used to work in the tuner industry so I was pretty heavily involved. I just started off doing my own thing and started to get recognition for what I was doing and building, soon enough, I became friends with all the editor-in-chief's of all the publications and I became boy's with huge icon's in our industry. I can seriously write a book about my career industry and how much i accelerated into where I am today. Looks like you are in NYC as well, if you ever want to meet up for a chat, just shoot me a PM.

haha it's funny because i am thinking of moving to the west side. i feel like finding a job in the tuner industry is much easier in the west. did you have to do any schooling? licensing? well that's me assuming you're a mechanic.

I was considering going to UTI but wrenching on car's is not what I wanted to do. What I do is marketing, PR, advertising and digital media. Depending on what aspect of the industry you want to get into will be dependent on where you should go for training. If you want to wrench on cars, you don't necessarily have to go to school but it probably is the most credible solution if you want to start building your reputation quickly. It is always best to relocate to where the industry is the biggest so I'd highly recommend moving to SoCal. Southern California is car tuning culture and if you were to start working somewhere and work your way up, that may be a more effective solution as it will give you a better opportunity to start building your network. Your reputation will really depend on how you conduct yourself as a person and how you build your cars.
