This is the problem with US wheel companies, none of them own the equipment to cut the faces except for HRE. All of them hire out either to the one place in Florida, MHT in California, or China. MHT for a fact cuts the faces for DPE and ADV1 (along with a couple others). After that the wheel faces are sent out to a third party for powdercoating. Usually the barrels and lips are ordered when you place your order for the wheel because it is rare for a company to have them in stock. Then depending on the company, they either put it together in house or source out that process also. Mind you, this is also not taking into account if the company has their JWL certification.

If you truely want to find out if a US wheel company is good, I always advise on googling them or checking forums like m3post as an example. I'll just say my experience from the initial order to the problem I had has caused me to only purchase wheels from HRE, Japanese Brands, or BBS.
Pretty solid info that is all pretty much true.  Anytime you see these random wheel boutique companies popping up with forged wheels, they just have a machine shop cut the faces to spec and assemble the lips and barrels, which probably came from Triangle Tooling Co., or from China, and then sell them for a lot of money.  HRE has built a reputation for high quality multipiece and monoblock wheels, so they are an excellent choice for high quality wheels.  Unfortunately they cost a boatload of money for a set of four.

Rays Engineering, Work, Wedsports, or any other major Japanese brand for me.

WTH man. Why'd you sell the gti?

Did you drop forged internals before putting in BT?

haha it was a fun car, but expensive to work on. and i work at one of the biggest GM Performance dealers now, so it's just smarter to have an LS car. more of a muscle car guy anyway.

and nah, it was safe at 315 without them. the plan was to do rods and pistons and then turn up the boost and make 400ish. but it just never happened.

Hell in a hand basket.
