depending on your plans for the car you cant go wrong either way. both 4 wheel drive, both have crazy potential for even more power, both unmatched for most streetrace scenarios ;). if your not into major engine mods then tune the car and your good to go. You could always do the cobb accesport for the sti. But in this case... my heart is for the evo. Goodluck!

STI wins on both looks and sound. theres nothing like the sound of a boxer engine.

and honestly neither is necessary faster, depending on what you do to it either one can make 500 awhp. imo you dont need more than that unless youre a racecar driver. :p

Neither may be 'faster' in a straight line, but for the most part the Scoobs is faster on sheisty terrain, and the Evo will be faster in the corners. Scoobs is gonna have the better stock suspension/lower CoG, and the Evo has a lot of technological wizardry like AYC.

I haven't heard about good reliability with DSM or Subaru cars, especially ones nearing 10 years old.

If you want a more performance-oriented car, go with the Evo.  If you're more of a cruiser, go with the STi.  Luckily for me, I was able to enjoy both as my cousin had the Evo 8 while I had the 05 STi.

Get the Subie, that exhaust roaring sounds like orgasm to my ears. Plus, it gets you out quicker on tough terrain.

May your neighbors respect you, trouble neglect you, angels protect you, and heaven accept you.

The 9 is worse than the 8...that 6 spd is a garbage tranny lol.

My one question to OP is...why would you give a shit about cruise control on a track car. You wanna go on a long trip don't bother taking either of those cars lol. As for sound the subie has the deeper rumble to it compared to the higher pitched sound the evo makes. I drive an Evo 8 so I would go with that personally but to be honest you can't really go wrong with either. They are pretty much around the same levels.
