Make sure transmission isn't going to fuck you over in a couple of years. My friend was always an Acura kind of guy until both his Acura's transmissions failed on him. Now he rules out Acuras all together when he gives advice on buying cars.

YES the transmission on the 2nd gen has a very well know problem
unless the transmission has been swapped or already repaired, i'd gtfo

Ive replaced the tranny on one before. Total pain and pretty shitty to have to replace one at 70k miles. Comfy cars though.

Just realized this is the oddball tl... I thought it was the newer tl's for some reason. The motor/ tranny on this year sucks. Stick with something thats more common and you won't have any problems/ replacement parts will be cheap and easy to maintain down the line. Anything with a B/K series motors and manual of course.

thanks for the help you guys. i ended up not buying it. the guy was trying to tell me some story about how it was his friend's car but his friend doesn't have the title. the whole thing seemed sketchy.

pm a guy on here named "n1njai" he owns that generation tl, knows every issue. he's at 210k miles, only issue is transmission, which is an issue every honda that generation usually has.. accord, tl, prelude, etc. other than that it should be good
