Apparently they have less issues if you keep the revs up, less wear on your spinning triangles if they spin faster, but I know what you mean. They are 15-20 years old, so problems are guaranteed to occur, that's what the banked 3k float is for. Personally though, I think the FD with the A-spec bumper looks nicer and newer than most current RWD offerings.

It does fit OP's budget, and is near the power output.

You'd have to be pretty lucky to find a 12k FD in decent condition buuuut you're right honestly, if you take good care of it and ACTUALLY do maintenance, it can last you a long time. 2k on a rebuild, 1k on reliability mods could do well.
Mine has near 90k and compression is still close to factory spec on the og engine.
I love mine to death but I'll never ever recommend it as a car to someone, especially as a daily driver.

got a 1.8t jetta for 2k and 130k miles. Added full boltons, turbo upgrade kit, coilovers. not quite 300hp but its pretty damn fast and reliable. 160k now and still goin strong smile

A Jetta is fast? & reliable? Since when? Even with a turbo upgrade, that shit is slow as hell.

wait what car do you drive? sorry my car isnt a 'racekor'. i rape hondas in my area, yet i can still have a comfortable dailydriver. Been around VW for years so i understand the car and the problems that occur. Never broken down on me or left me stranded over the 3 years ive had it for..Yet your the one suggesting the op get a vw R32 lol.

I only suggested the R32 because I own one and I'm bias. If you're not in a "racekor" then why are you talking about "raping" hondas in your area for? Psh. VR6s are way more reliable than 1.8t engines. Have fun "raping" Hondas, boy.

No matter what vw he gets it will all come down to the owner and how he maintains his car. He can have a vr or a 1.8t and make it last longer than a 2slow. and yeah my bad that my stage 3 jetta isn't that fast.. I only suggest the 1.8t because I own one and I'm bias. They're relatively cheap to mod for decent power gains.

So buy a MK4 Jetta for $3-5K and then add a stage 3 turbo for $10-12K? Very sound economics. I guess I made an error in recommending a highly coveted, semi-rare car. My mistake.

There you go OP. hellohannya just dropped you some gems. Problem solved. Go get a Jetta! smile

"Sorry my car isn't a 'racekor' but I have a Stage 3 Jetta that 'rapes' Hondas in my area" is gonna be my new sig in the Vortex. Thanks for that.

Aw sick dude. you can blast me on the websuprised.. I believe I stated that I got the jetta for 2k.
Got a discount on the turbo kit from my boys at 034 as well as assistance on the install. so really i spent less than 15k which is surprising because it appears to be the amount the op stated he was looking at spending. hmmmm interesting..
Figures your one of those type of vortex members, worthless with suggestions and great at being a dbag.
And thanks for quoting my name, I got a incompetant doosh alert on my email.

I'm fucking confused. You have a STAGE 3 DAILY DRIVER jetta that rapes hondas in your area, but isn't that fast?

My worthless suggestion was far greater than your car will ever will be. Having an opinion made me a dbag right? Yet you're the child who reduced itself to name calling.

You daily a GSXR? Lmao. Get a real bike. You sound like a squid.

lol ok i give up..
so since my suzuki isnt a 'real bike' im guessing you'd suggest that i get a fixie huh? I guess i'll go eat some calamari and keep indulging in squidlike behavior. xcfgval jcfie;samxc- sorry i just inked all over my keyboardjiaofhnnpnewc

Fixie? No way. Now THAT is a stupid recommendation. I was thinking along the lines of a Ducati. Or at least an R6. Does Suzuki ever win MotoGP? Or WSBK for that matter? NOPE. Hence the statement: Get a real bike. And before you start running your mouth, I've owned 9 bikes in this lifetime. An '06 GSXR was one of them. My least favorite bike ever. I had more fun on a KTM.

I can't believe you don't know what a "squid" is. And you ride? Whatever. Ride safely, squid.

Alright well it all comes down to opinion. I enjoyed riding a ninja more than my dads cbr and my gsxr. And a Ducati, now thats a bike with a price tag lol. Awesome bikes tho.
I was being sarcastic with the squid statements, obviously.
..oh and btw those ch's you got are clean..

I learned on a Ninja! Fun bike, a bit heavy, but fun and a good bike to learn on/beat on. Your dad rides too? That's dope. Yeah, you're right about the price tag. It's the maintenance that kills you on Ducatis. I hope I didn't offend, that wasn't my intent. I was being sarcastic as well. We're all enthusiasts here. Be safe riding your bikes.
