Why do people drive with their lights on in the day time?

I see this way too much for it to be a coincidence. Every time I drive during the day I see at least 5 people with their lights on. I can't even say maybe they just left them on overnight because their battery would be dead. Maybe they accidentally hit the switch/button?

Two things.

1. They might be coming from somewhere else where it is raining.

2. A lot of newer cars have DRLs. Daytime Running Lights. Where the car has a separate set of lights that are always running during the day time. A lot of cars have automatic head light switches too.

I live in Los Angeles and it's summer time so there isn't any rain. Easier to see? It's broad ass daylight. You can't even see the light beams because of the sun haha. I don't know. It's just weird and I was wondering if there's some secret I don't know about.

It's called drl. You Cant turn it off. If you didn't drive a Honda, you'd understand. Jk
I think almost all European cars have it nowadays.
Also, here's another weird feat.... My side mirror is blue tinted! Ooooooo

Yea its kinda a hassle to turn it off on the e90 platform for example..and most older people driving those cars are not really in tune with how they work, so they'd have no clue how to turn it off.

Its so you're car is more visible to other drivers. Obviously you dont need the "extra" light to see the road. Its been proven to reduce accidents. smh

Yeah, I don't see why the OP has a problem with daytime running lights.

I don't have a problem with them. I just didn't know why people had their lights on during the day. I do think they're useless though. I've been driving for 8 years with just the sun and I can see just fine. To each his own though.
