Hay stack barrier was definitely sticking out a little too far on to the track, but that was 99% driver error. He appeared to misjudge that turn's apex pretty badly and went for it way too early. Looks like some understeer on the exit, probably got on the gas early but he seemed to have straightened the car out by the time he hit barrier. Just looks like a poor racing line/lack of driver awareness.

99.9% of people would prefer hitting that haybale over going into the wall. He just hit it at a horrible angle.

Indeed, a foot or two more to the outside of the corner could have seen that car nail the track wall or go into the crowd.
