Thoughts? Should the hay have been there? Was the driver careless?

Hay stack barrier was definitely sticking out a little too far on to the track, but that was 99% driver error. He appeared to misjudge that turn's apex pretty badly and went for it way too early. Looks like some understeer on the exit, probably got on the gas early but he seemed to have straightened the car out by the time he hit barrier. Just looks like a poor racing line/lack of driver awareness.

99.9% of people would prefer hitting that haybale over going into the wall. He just hit it at a horrible angle.

I'm gonna install a full cage if I ever go to the track now... That could've been much worse.

Indeed, a foot or two more to the outside of the corner could have seen that car nail the track wall or go into the crowd.

RHD, it's a WRX. Probably why/how he misjudged the corner.

terrible driving going on by every car in the video (minus the first hatch)… that all happens to be overshadowed by the idiot who hit the hay. good description of what happen a page back, should be an announcer.
