Everything Volkswagen, I like it!! I thought I'd post some pics and info or my other obsession. It's my 1991 Corrado G60 which is the only factory supercharged VW. I bought it last summer as a project and since then I've dumped all sorts of time and money into her and now daily drive it. Here's a list of some of the mods and such I've done: Lowered on Raceland coils, sitting on some 16x7.5 Borbet Type C's with 195/45's, Euro 90mm front lip, Smoked Ecode Headlights with French yellow bulb caps for the high beams, HIDS in both Headlights and fogs 5000k Low Beams and 4300k Fogs, Euro clear turn signals, Badgeless Grille with paint matched eyelid, It has clean heated blue dot interior kinda rare, Chrome mirrors, All red tails, Euro license plate tub, Functional rear spoiler that goes up at 43 mph, Glass moon roof upgrade, Full Thule Rack with Fairing and single bike mount, Euro manual seatbelt upgrade, gets rid of those stupid auto belts, The stereo is nothin crazy just a Sony deck and 10" bass tube perfect bumps for a Corrado, and as far as engine mods go I haven't done to much because the car is currently a auto but I have everything to do a 5 speed swap and plan on swapping it in this summer. The only mods I have done now are a Bahn Brenner Stage 4 Charger with G70 intake porting and RSR outlet. And then I custom made a intake for it. I plan on doing the full stage 4 upgrade after the 5 speed swap. So thats about all I can think of right now but I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff. Feel free to ask any questions I've had several VW's including MK2 VR's, MK1 16V's and done numerous swaps. Thanks for reading and here's some pics.

Ordered my franken turbo f4 kit, eurosport FMIC, F/R sway bars, coilovers, 2.5 techtoniks turboback, new 380cc injectors, and im throwing a GIAC tune on it.

And i just placed the order for some work vs xx's. bronze finish.

i'll throw up some pics when i get it back in a week or two. im estimating 250whp/270torque

To answer your question: People like older VW's because they know how to wrench and fix their own cars. It's labor of love. And you heard wrong. Car's are as garbage as the owner's who take care / don't take care of them.

Who did you hear that from? From a Scion owner?

My mechanic teacher said the same thing lol he was like why does everyone like mark 4s and stuff they are price of junk cars and he has been a mechanic for like 50 years lol

Guess what, your teacher is human. Humans make errors in judgement. Supposing that he's basing statements from experience, did it ever occur to him, or you that those "junk" MK4s were poorly maintained, female owned (not sexist, but MOST females know nothing about car maintenance), or beaten to death?

Another thing to add: Your mechanic has been wrenching for 50 years? That makes him 70+?
MOST (not all) older folks have brand loyalty and prefer American cars over foreign. You wanna bash a brand or product? That's fine, but at least know WTF you're talking about.

Your mechanic is entitled to his opinions, I have a right to tell him how stupid his opinions are.
