Hey guys, so I'm looking to buy my first car and my price range is around $13,000. The only catch is that I can't get a BMW which is ironic because frankly.. BMW is the only car that I want.

So what should I get that's around 13,000? Looking through craigslist gives me nothing but toyota dodgers and nissan sentras.

it has to be reliable as I'll be driving it for a good 4-8 years. I'd like it to be good looking, performance isn't really something that matters to me but it'd still be nice to have. The seats doesn't matter, nor do the cylinders. Not particularly sure about torque or rev happy but it doesnt matter. It snows and rains a lot where I live so it'd be nice to have a car that's good in those conditions.

If you have your heart set on a BMW but ca't get it for w/e reason then go for the better looking rival the Audi A4. if thats your thing of course.

personally I would of bought a older model Mitsubishi Evo and used the rest of the money upgrading it. But thats the rally driver inside of me talking.

it's awfully windy/rainy where I live, so something like an s2000 isn't really that ideal for me lool.

get the audi a4 3.0 quattro, you may be able to find one with an ultrasport package for that price. good luck.

check out the Acura TSX. Sharp looking car, honda reliability, nice interior, and it'll be good in snow as it's front wheel drive. There should be some decent examples in your price range.

I would personally get a Nissan 240sx S15. Slightly Mod it but if not then go with Acura RSX.

Ive looked into a 2003 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro Premium and I'm probably gonna go with that.

i would avoid the 1.8t and go with the 3.0, less reliability issues and a little more powerful.

whatre the differences between a 3.0 and 1.8 in terms of reliability? It's hard to find a 3.0 thats also a manual in my area.

1.8t just tends to have a lot of issues, plus its a turbo which means you'll be due a replacement once the car hits 100k miles. try to keep looking, the 3.0 is the better way to go if you don't want the car in the shop all the time.

yeah.. I'm paying for everything but we had this whole discussion about it and it's complicated.

Yeah, I found a Audi A4 3.0T and I'm gonna make some calls tomorrow, thanks guys.

A4 is going to eat your bank account on mundane maintenance items and issues.

For a first car I would seriously just pick up a civic or a corolla. Learn to drive, learn to maintain your car with something forgivable, learn what it takes to actually have vehicle ownership while you're sitting in something cheap (to buy, drive, maintain, insure and fuel) and is reliable. From there decide where you want to go having owned a set of keys for a while.

06 TL is great choice. My other choice would have been a WRX.
