No doubt the 911 is an extremely capable platform, but I don't blame Porsche for worrying about the 458 GT3. Ferrari's mid engine V8 cars have been improving by leaps and bounds with every evolution since the 355, the 458's performance is crazy. The hybrid RSR could be arriving sooner then we think, I mean how much more can they stretch the current flat 6? It's already at 4.0L in the current car which is the class limit if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure Ferrari was actually destroking the F430's engine in order to compete in the class, which gives them a pretty big advantage in my mind. I don't wanna say the 458 is gonna blow the 911 out of the water, but Porsche can't just add turbochargers to the racecar to even the playing field like they have been doing with their street cars. The 458 is highly advanced and even though the racecar will lack the electronics and active aerodynamics that the street car benefits from, it will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with. The M3 GTR and the Corvette C6R being in the same class, doesn't really help things either. I'm just not sure what the rules on hybrid drivetrains are currently.

it would most definitely kill me. that much torque in a rwd car shouldn't even be road legal lol

"Ground control is handled with tires specifically created for the car, carrying it from zero to sixty miles per hour in 3.4 seconds."

Can they please decide on exactly how fast this thing accelerates? Regardless, the 7:18 Nordschleife lap is mind blowing if it is true. That makes it the 2nd fastest true production car around the 'Ring, behind the Gumpert Apollo Speed. In light of this new information and the $245k pricetag I'd like to retract my previous statements, the 911 GT2RS seems to be pretty fairly priced to me. I applaud Porsche for creating one of the more extreme street cars in recent memory, especially considering the amount of hybrid loving pansies in the world. Well done Porsche, well done cool

Porsche always underrates their cars acceleration times, i guarantee at least one car mag will rip it under 3. Thank you Main Event, you can now see why I'm such a huge fan of all things Porsche.

Canvas, a 16M? i mean i respect it's celebration of ferrari's 16th F1 win, but it's a vert.

My current production dream ferrari is the 599 GTO though, shit is incredible.

its probably (since i have no drivers experience in one) the most fun vert out right now. The 599 GTO is awesome, it is just if I think if I had that kind of money I wouldn't get one. would rather buy a carrera GT and use the leftover money to buy ///m project cars from the handbuilt era.

i dunno, i can only really respect a vert that was engineered as one from the ground up, but they are a ton of fun. good point on the CGT+project m cars though. e30 m3 and e34 m5 cool

^ The early M cars were something special, it is a shame how BMW has let itself go. The Carrera GT is a stunner in the looks department and that V10 sounds beautiful at high revs.

+ you can stunt on beezys in a vert ferrari.

at some point in my life im hoping on owning a e9, e12, e24, e28, e30 and a e34

not all the time when you are driving do you need 620 hp, 15 inch brakes and 7:18 ring times. pre-wall bmws are just enjoyable to drive. but for those times when i need 620hp and 7:18 ring times hopefully i can stack enough after school so i can cop one of these suckers

this is true, you don't have to say a damn thing either, the car does all the talking haha

on my way to bimmerfest last year i saw the cleanest 3.0csl, probably my favorite classic bmw

they really are. and i think especially at this age, i'd kinda prefer something i can drive 8 or 9/10ths without killing myself instead of some badass supercar that i gotta drive 1/10th at all times.

main event, we've probably talked about this before but you're totally right. the m3 and m5 are bloated shadows of what they used to be, and now that they won't be making another m coupe and all the m cars will be going FI next gen, it seems all hope is lost.

btw i gotta ask, what cars are you guys currently driving?

2000 Subaru Legacy on the street
1998 Porsche Carrera S for PCA Autocross

While cars are one of my passions, it tends to take the back burner now that I am a college student to my cheaper hobbies. More motivation for me to land a higher paying job I guess.
