I am about to purchase a 2001 bmw 325i and it has rear wheel drive i believe
me being from a state that gets a good amount of snow, has a goooood amount of hills
(which i wont be around that much when i go back to school) would this be a
bad idea to get this car and drive it in the winter? i hear rear wheel drive is
bad for winter but i just did a little research on line and its people reviewing
it and saying that have rear wheel drive is somewhat better than having
4WD....... so for the ppl who know about cars, what do you guys think?
should i pass up the deal and get something more suitable for winter? or should
i be able to get this car and be able to make it through the winter?

you sure? i want this car but already being a BMW the prices for these
parts are probably ridiculous and me being in a state where we get a good
amount of snow and a good amount of hills, i dont know what to do.

just don't drive like an idiot and you'll be fine in the snow.

i'm really worried about just wrecking and having to pay a billion dollars
for parts. i dont drive stupid. i drive very careful, especially during the winter
but you know, things just happen. and i was thinkin with that rear wheel drive, it
would cause more, easier accidents.

Na just dont drive like a fucking dumbass and youll be cool. RWD is kinda sketchy in the snow/ice but its nothing to go AWD for. All AWD does is correct your steering quicker if your slightly drifting to one side and such, or get you over a steep incline with the added traction. If your from a state where theres a ton of snow like you said there is, id be more worried about keeping my frame rust/corrosion free from all the salt and shit that they lay down. Thats whatll really fuck up your car.

snow tires if you get a lot of snow, otherwise all seasons are fine. Just don't drive like an idiot and the first snowfall you get take the car to an empty parking lot and learn how the car behaves so you know what to do if you get into a hairy situation.

why dont you just look for a 325xi

well i wasnt really LOOKING for a BMW, i saw one on a car lot like 2 weeks ago
and i liked it. i'm not gonna continue to keep looking for a BMW when i know
where i'm from, i probably wont find another one in a better condition than the
one i was looking at for my price, but i dont know i might. i'm goin to continue
to look around. hopefully i find something. i already have one car, i just want
something else.

Where do you actually live? (So I know how bad your winters are)
How many years have you been driving?
Manual or Auto?

Given those answers I can say if you should or shouldnt go through with it. But its your call.
