How practical is it to slam your car? Not to say that the s2k is even that low, but I've seen so many cars around now lowered. Do people really take the time to scoot their lowered shits into mall ramps and public parking lots?

Not practical at all.

It's overrated as hell maybe because I grew out of that scene.
I rather buy a nice car like a lotus or panamera turbo and call it a day. Still get more head turns than any slammed cars.

you're comparing a car that can be acquired from 3k-20k slammed with other goods for less than 10k, to cars such as a panamera which is 100k......... hm.........

i'd rather buy a g6 plane than a lotus because it'd turn more heads, and a yacht too.

I am looking at getting a Shuttle over the winter, gonna fix it up in spring/summer into a good DD for fall/winter. I was going to save and lease something new around that time, but this seems more fun. Might go for an EF hatch if I can't find a shuttle, but either way it'll be sub-1500.

What I want to know though, suggestions for the motor I should put in. Remember, not gonna race or track it, just a reliable DD. I want something that's easy to maintain, reliable, and most of all, an easy fit. Buddy runs a B16, but it seems like a pain in the ass to maintain, although he drives like an ass a lot, so it could be that. Should I go 1500 or 1600cc? SOHC or DOHC? Experiences?

My first car was an EF Si so it had the D16A6. Let me tell you, it was a peppy little motor despite being SOHC. Friends were always trying to convince me to swap it out but I was never about the race life so I thought it was pointless. My driving style is just staying ahead of traffic a little bit and the single cam could accomplish that with ease. If I had kept the car the only thing I may have done is throw a y8 head on it for a little vtec.

Whatever single cam In good condition you find is going to meet your criteria, but I only recommend the A6 or better

If you plan to keep the car for a long time and continue to work on it then I'd just say put out the extra cash and swap it with a B16. It's just as easy to maintain as a single cam, your buddy probably just rags the hell out of it or it's a high mileage motor. But on the other hand there is nothing wrong with a single jingle. You can find em hella cheap and they last forever. Don't get an SOHC non-vtec though, there's no fun in that :/

Friend is hooking me up with his '88 hatch for $600, gonna pop it on a bed and truck it to the shop by the new year. Gonna grab flicks of it when I give him some downpayment. I know it's a 1.5, but I'm not sure which D15 it is. The exterior and interior have already been outfitted with si parts, so basically it's just the engine and drivetrain I have to put real money into. So I'll ask some question about that here in the near future, so help a man out HB. Still not gonna make it super fast, I want reliability.

Super excited though, because even in the times I can't put money into the engine/trans/mech., I can get paint done for materials only. Kanjo style with some hotrod influence. It's super nice knowing a dude with a booth and access to anything from I want from House of Kolor at cost. Also psyched on the fact that both I and the car will be 25 by the time I get it on the road, which realistically can be as early as April now, which means OD cheap insurance.
