cosign! i had a monster 620 a few years ago, and while it was pretty sweet,
one might as well get a "real" (bigger) Ducati. valve adjustments are a triple digit
endeavor, might as well get some fucking juice out of it.

highly recommend the sv650 if you want a midsized vtwin experience.

Looking to buy a CBR250 soon, can ride a dirt bike (have all my life) never ridden a road bike though, I'm thinking of buying brand new, keeping for a year then selling, if i loose a grand or so im not really fussed. Think i should just buy second hand though?

^selling my cbr250r right now. I had it for about half a year and put like 1750 on it. I think it was a pretty good choice. THe bike inspires so much confidence because it's so easy to ride.

it's always better to buy used, when you buy a brand new one even if you don't drop it or put that many miles on it, when you resell you are still going to be losing at least 1k

never rid one but love the look. I'm sure it wont be that bad because the bike is probably super heavy thats why they need to use a bigger motor. I had a thruxton 900 and shit was slow for me. I use to ride sportsbikes in the 600cc class which were a lot faster then my 900cc thruxton

Depends on the type of bike you want. If its a sport bike and you're less than like 200lb I'd say a Ninja 250. I think they're dope little bikes

But then again I'd say get a supermoto cause I'm biased. At that price point you can find a drz400sm

ninja 250 is a good starter, think it costs like 4k brand new... so you should be able to find one easily
real light, super fun to burn around.

Why waste the money and time to buy a 250 then have to resell it to buy a 600

Nothing is too much. My mum got a Streetbob last year as her first bike, she's put over 25k km on it since. Thing is like 15xx cc. Now, she'd be the type to clown you for a Sportster though. ;)

This. The ninja 250 is an awesome bike. It will cruise at 90mph without a problem, gas milage is excellent, insurance is cheap, and it handles incredibly well. A 600 might not be too much to start on but a 250 is definitely a lot of fun and very practical for the city. Watch this video to see what these bikes are capable of with a good rider:

nice vid! Smaller displacement bikes sure are enjoyable in the corners.

Dont forget to buy proper gear before you ride. Saw a guy jet past me on a cbr wearing a tank top and shorts and a couple miles later he was laid out with a ton of skin missing. No fun having gravel stuck in your arms and legs. Defensive riding is a must at all times. Not all cars will see you on the road and thats whats most dangerous. As stated earlier a 250 or 600 will do. First time I would go with a Suzuki sv650, or 06 cbr600rr. These are bikes you can grow into.
