Actually, the A.P.C. stores in HK do not carry New Standards. This season, they have a pair in which the cut and fit closely resembles them. However, they are slightly more expensive than New Standards, expecially if you order them online with discounts (ie. denimbaronline)
I would suggest that you take advantage of the absence of sales tax and go get yourself a pair of FlatHeads, Samurais from Take5. Or, you can do what I did and skipped the formalities of progression in denim and go straight to Dior Homme.
I bought a pair of black 19cm MIJs for $2300 HKD. I haven't been able to peel them off my legs ever since.
