What's with the boat shoes craze?
Maybe I'm just not with the times...

The boat shoes have been around for a few years now, more popular the last 2 years. Mostly overseas ofcourse. They caught on when the whole Ivy League/Preppy look took off in Japan.

Nah, there's still Stussy QV and St. Kilda here which will remain open as they're owned by some other company - Stussy that is owned by Pacific Brands or who ever the fuck it was, are closing down.

Absolutely right.

Was in some random shopping centre in Yokohama in 08, every single brand they carried had their own line of boat shoes, shit was ridiculous. Dunno why it's taken so damn long to catch on here?! Like i said before, too many dickheads will start wearing them like crazy now, gonna be mad annoying especially with summer coming up.

Nah the two stores that will be left (QV & St. Kilda) aren't owned by Stussy. Infact I don't think Stussy actually own a single store here, just give out the licenses to companies to set up "Stussy" stores.

Stussy Chadstone - closing down in Nov. = Pacific Brands
Stussy QV & St. Kilda - still open = "Rogues" < some random company.

As far as I know Stussy Chaddy only got the Boneyards stuff but both got the 30th anni gear.

Shit's gonna be sad that Chadstone is closing, staff were always mad nice and knew their stuff for the most part. Apparently it's all due to Pacific Brands not knowing how to run it and hiring shitty managers who fucked up.

Stussy Chadstone is having a pretty big sale (got 60% off a coat and I think everything is at least 30% off), but didn't see anything about closing down.

It's an unofficial closing down sale - just ask the staff, they're basically getting rid of stock and by November it will be gone. From what I was told, what ever stock is there is all, no more stock will come in.

Wow that is ridiculous but cool too that you can have so much to choose from, comparing to what we get here.

Sounds like chaddy stussy is the pick of the bunch in melbourne, sucks that its closing. Hopefully the other 2 stores will carry on. Hard to find stussy gear here in sydney after the only store closed down. Had great staff, ok stock, semi-rape prices but better than the shit I see in GP.

They won't put a sign up I don't think, ask the staff or call them, they're 100% closing down.

Hey aussies,

This may be an odd request but could someone paypal me ~$5? Im short about that much due to the exchange rate and because I dont have a credit card, I have to transfer it from my bank which takes up to a week (and I would prefer to pay for the item asap). I will of course deposit the $5 back straight into your bank.

Thanks!

New stores opened up at westfield sydney centrepoint, streetology and sneakerology, interested in seeing what they stock. Not passing judgement based on the names yet though.

Yeah Rogues is the store that owns Stussy QV and St. Kilda, they do a few sales every year too - maybe they've bought the license to Stussy?!

So I got to check out the new westfield in sydney city. There is a nice little store called capsule run by the same people as freshin. Stocks 3sixteen denim and sperry, plus the regular stuff like Huf and mishka.

Streetology and sneakerology are not even worth mentioning, unless kiks tyo tees and every nike dunk that hype stocked over the last few years is your thing.

ALeague? Pretend heart is sydney since they took all our decent players.. unless you support them that is.

Supreme box hoodies at supply, most sizes including grey and aubergine still in stock, $280 a pop. Guess no one wants to drop that much when its 30 degrees outside.

We're just plain getting ripped off with everything when compared to other nations. The whole import costs and exchange rates arguments are nonsense considering that even home grown stuff is expensive and that our massive currency rise has changed nothing. And like you said, even in Singapore goods are relatively cheap.

^With that said, Pauls Warehouse is still putting up decent deals for standard Chucks and Vans Authentics/Era.

$90 Chucks, $80 Authentics, but it's buy 1 get 1 free.

I got the Vans a few months ago, though - they were $60 back then. I forgot what shipping costed, if anything.

Small market, so companies have got to raise prices to recoup entering Australia and selling so few. Tyranny of distance? Maybe its the government.

Cheers Rhapsody. But if it were the tyranny of distance, transportation speeds are amazing now and i can't fathom how a 4hour flight diff. between singapore and australia(perth) can result in these hugh differences. but then theres the small market factor. and the govt. haha

Taxes.

Small businesses get burnt to the ground with taxes that get piled on them. Vendor tax, import tax, customs etc etc - it all piles up. Cause we got a backwards taxation system that believes the only way to protect local product is to exorbitantly charge for import goods.

Heaven forbid local producers actually try competing with foreign product.
