thinking about picking up a nikon 18-200mm vr ii lens for my d90. thoughts?
Sep 25, 2010 @ 21:56
Yeah man using the view finder at night can be a hassle. Especially if you shoot in aperture priority and the meter gives you a slow shutter speed. And thanks!

Don't get it, waste of money. I mean dont get me wrong, its a versitile lens and all nikon lenses are of good quality. But this lens suffers from barrel distortion and its not much better quality then the kit lens. Try to get a zoom with a constant apeture of 2.8.

Thanks I love it...I can bring this everywhere. Not as good as my D90 but better then any other point and shoot on the market.

how you carrying it around?
you got a recommendation on a pouch to carry the GF1 in?

what camera do you guys think i should get for my photgraphy class?

i think the canon mk IV, nikon D3x, or lecia m8 should be your ONLY choices.

I'm not sure if anybody answered your question yet, but yes, it will work. They are both 49mm.

Depending on your budget and how much you know about photography. I have the t1i and that was the first camera i got. Depending on what you like, you might not even want to go dSLR (But i would recommend that you do). I got the t1i kit and then a 70-300 is usm lens, which i regret a little, I should have got something more midrange because I don't really shoot that far away.
enough blabbering. the camera you purchase would depend on your budget and your purpose.

Canon AE-1. Cheap, simple, it'll do what you want it to.

cannon s95 or d40?
Oct 04, 2010 @ 20:36
edit:
is portability an issue for you?? If not, I'd say go for the D40...in my opinion I still think a compact doesn't quite measure up to an actual dslr yet.

I actually have a s90 and a d40...and I haven't been able to get comparable shots yet. But then again, I haven't had the s90 for that long, so I'm not really used to all it's functions either.

do you want a dslr or a point and shoot?

best buy for the money? Need help choosing a prime lens. I'm thinking about going something similar to the Sigma 30mm 1.4, the Canon 28mm 1.8, although i'd highly prefer something way cheaper.

i think im gonna go from a cannon s95 because im new to photography. transition to a dslr.

any tutorials I should look for in terms of photography in general.

theres no tutorial for photography lol you can do some reading on general rules of composition and u should get a d40, it's a beginners camera and a point and shoot won't do you any good.

you wont learn much from a point and shoot. i recommend the d40, pair it up with a cheap 35mm 1.8. learn from practice and other's experiences.

Has anyone ever used a Nikon N5005? If so,is it any good?

i currently shoot with only a 35mm 1.8, i want another prime lens with a little more zoom to do some more detailed product shots. would a 50mm 1.8 be a huge difference? i just don't want to spend the money if it's going to be basically the same thing.

thanks.

50mm would give you a tighter shot, but not a huge difference. i prefer 85mm or 105mm

Get the 50 1.4g, don't bother with the 1.8. Great for portraits or product shots. If you got gwap though, go for the 85mm 1.4 aka the Cream Machine.

avoid both since they are both contain ground glass. look for filters which contain precise glass
