so I'm just starting out in photography, which cam is best?
A Canon EOS Rebel xs or a Pentax x70?
Dose it even matter since I'm new at these?

if you are going to spend a significant amount of money on a camera, i would just go with the canon. They are great camera's and give you access to a lot of lens and accessory options.

from the screenshot, it would seem that your default color profile in bridge is monitor RGB. im not sure what version of adobe products you are using, but i am using creative master suite cs4, and under the edit menu in bridge there is a "creative suite color settings" option which allows you to synch all the adobe applications for consistent color management. if you have this option, check to see if you are set to 'Monitor Color" rather than "North American General Purpose 2", which is where you should be. Its a long shot, but its worth checking.

alright i'll try that when i get home.

Uhh, I don't know if I'm supposed to ask here but...how much would an average B&W dark room cost to construct?

how large do you want to print? the big money is in the enlarger, and the larger the print, the more costly the enlarger.

The maximum size I'd like to develop would be 8x10.

speedlight question
can every speedlight or external flash mount on a canon eos rebel xs? or does there have to be a specific type of brand?

thanks
just read up on some reviews on it.

if i find a used one cheaper then a 600 i will but if im buying new id go with the 600 after reading several reviews. ken rockwell has a good 600 vs 800 review.

again, its basicly what brand you would rather use, each brand, canon and nikon etc. have an equivilent model to one of the other brand.

I shoot in raw if I have to do any airbrushing in photoshop. If you're not going to do any editing I'm not sure shooting in raw is exactly practical. At least that's what I've heard.

I'm looking for a wide-angle lense for my d40 and I don't know where to start. I'm trying to get into shooting some snowboarding etc. Should I just purchase the standard Nikon wide-angle lense? I don't really want to spend more than $500 if I don't have to.

if your shooting alot of stuff fast id say jpg, but if your sitting there with a tripod lets say, waiting to get a perfect sunset/long exposure photo, go raw .nef

Sigma 10-20.
Really only nice lens they make.

@Kid above asking about flashes, if you want to be thrifty.
Vivitar 285hv is great, and under 100$

thinking about picking one up soon, as well as a trigger set.
