looking to buy a new camera for some spare time fun and picture taking. do you guys recommend buying a used camera or new, or does it not matter? thinking about getting a d40, whats a good price for a used d40 + 18-55mm lens? appreciate it.

Looking for a fisheye lens for my Canon XSi. Recommendations?

Also, could anyone point me in the direction of any specialized and thriving photography forums?

since the xsi is 1.6x crop you're not going to get a true fisheye unless you get a lens 8mm or under, the sigma 4.5mm is pretty good

canon needs to make a true fisheye for there rebel series, the one they offer now (15mm) is a joke

^ canon 10-22
tokina 11-16
sigma 10-20

id say in that order.

i would also recommend everyone getting a new camera to get something like a 20d. its older but offers more then the newer amateur cameras imo and they might be missing a couple megapixels but i know only like 1/10 of you are actually printing anyway.

if you're on a budget get a d40, with a 15-55mm lense
if you have a little extra cash, get a d60.

I had some similar screw-on lenses for my GX100... quality isn't whatever... don't expect something outstanding, there is a bit of a novelty effect to using them.

So I'm a photography noob and i wanna get into it a bit..so i can buy a nikon d40 with warranty, very lightly used with nikkor 18-55 lenses for 250euro,it's like 370usd ( but electronics are a lot more expensive in europe than in the states ) and that's a pretty good price over here for it..so should i cop it? is it a good camera/lenses for a beginner? thank you.

that sounds like a good deal for the camera body and lens. It's exactly what I started with when I switched from film to digital

i was in the same situation as you a couple months back, I ended up getting a nikon d60 with the 18-55mm VR lens now im saving up for a sigma 10-20 wide angle lens. The d40 and d60 are great cameras for people intested in photography but aren't pros. And btw, its the photographer, not the camera that takes great pics...alot of ppl make the mistake of trying to buy talent with expensive equipment.

ive got a canon 100-300 and a canon 75-300

which one do u think i should keep?

i got them both for stupidly cheap, and ive used them both to compare and they dont seem that different. im guess the 75-300 is the newer of the 2, plus it has the slightly extra range so i was gonna keep that one.

anyone have any opinions on either itd be appreciated

thanks
