For those of you that might own a nikon d50 or d80, by any chance, do you guys know if the card chamber door is the same as the d40? Mine broke from the corner, and krazy glue just doesn't work on that type of plastic :[

Elvis: Basically the flash went off right when he hit the shutter release effectively freezing the subjects. However, since it was a 1/2" exposure he had time to move the camera a bit which causes the light blur.

Nightclub photogs love that shit...it can look cool but it gets a bit overused sometimes.

Kickrocks: I wouldnt think so. The camera bodies are much much different in size/shape (and the D50 doesnt even use the same type of card). Nikon service is really good, have you called them? Might be able to just warranty it...

p.s. my homie has a d50 and it takes SD as well..a plus on the d40, though, is that it takes SDHC too.

Yea you are right I was thinking the D70 (CF)...

My friend was able to get a LCD screen warrantied through Nikon cuz it was chipped/scratched (obviously wear and tear, but they took care of it anyway). I would think if that would fly your card door issue would be no problem?

yeah, I'm sure they'll take care of it...but the thing is that I'm going to Mexico in about a week, and I'm also sure that it would take longer than that for my cam. to get to them...if not that, just the whole process anyways.

If not, I'll just wait...it's simply a cosmetic issue and doesn't affect the camera.

From i think 2002-3?!? its second hand, how much should i pay for it or should i not even buy it?

What other lenses do you have?

It's a little wider than a "normal" lens on a crop camera. If you can get a bargain on it.. go for it.

Sigma makes an EOS mount for the 10-20. Just make sure you get the right one.

Or you can get a EOS film camera of off craigslist/ebay for cheap.

Not necessarily a lens question, just a filter question. Got bout20-30 dollars to spend so I was gonna get some cheap accessories. Ive been lookin at two combos. Hood + Polarizer or 80a filter + polarizer. Which is the smarter option?

I am pretty much set on the polarizer, just wanna know if an 80a filter is of any use for indoor shooting

its the 1.6 crop factor thing. but if a full frame is under 2k i'd rather save up for a lens.

I think he just uses burn tool on photoshop, although I am not 100% sure. Ill ask him next time I talk to him

it's called vignetting, can occur naturally sometimes or you adjust it in lightroom or photoshop's camera raw plugin.

My younger brother picked it up and as he picked it up it slipped (a few inches)

Im guessing just the lense is damaged?!? When i take a picture the image in the viewfinder slopes and doesnt record the image.

I felt like kicking the shit out of him but it was my fault for letting him use it in the first place, i will know better next time.

Im taking it back to the shop for a replacement in a few days as it was under warranty.

you wont be able to have auto focusing with that camera if you use wide angle or fish eye

so im taking a photojournalism class
next semester and i dont want to over do it and cop a dslr
im a finance major so im just taking this class cause im interested in photography. wut camera do u guys suggest i get? i mean i still want to be able to take quality pictures, just dont want to shell out 500+ on something i am just a beginner at. kno wut i mean?
im thinkin bout just getiin a regular digital camera, if i do that wut specs should i look for?

Find a camera that starts up quick with the least shutter lag. You may also consider finding one with image stabilization and good optical zoom.

I got a replacement but in black this time, also picked up a UV filter to be safe.

I really want a wide angle lens but its gunna have to wait till the end of january as i have to pickup a mac pro and tablet firstly.

Gunna go out taking pics at the weekend in some unknown place of yokrshire.
