Kodak Ektacolor 100 or Fuji Provia 400 if you want something faster to shoot in lower light.

Do you want a walkaround lens or do you have specific shooting you wanna do?

Oh my god, seriously.. There are so many lenses/ variations/ types of lenses out there, gotta be specific. Do you know what you are mainly shooting? Do you want to have a zoom lens or can you use a prime? Do you need a lens that can handle lowlight well? Etc.. etc.. First I would look around on sites for reviews of different lenses, narrow down your selection then post here what you think you want and then I am sure you will have a ton of people helping you.

I had a shoot with a friend of mine earlier because she wants to make some prints for some car show she's going to be at on Sunday. When I take pictures, I usually resize my images to 900x599, but she told me she wants to make some prints but not sure on what size, so I'm debating if I still resize them?

My question is: If I resize it to 900x599, will it decrease picture quality if she makes some prints? Should I just leave them original size and just edit them from there?
Aug 19, 2011 @ 13:25
900x599 is already REALLY low quality for prints (even at 300dpi)— it's around 3"x1".

ask her what size she wants, then resize accordingly in photoshop at 300dpi for prints.
Aug 19, 2011 @ 19:12
I just left them at full size and edited them from there and just gave it to her. It's up to her on how shes going to print them. Reason why I do 900x599 is for my blog, so its all the same length and width.

What/ where to buy film for minolta pocket autopak?
The film place is extra tiny. http://t.co/MTq6uZu

yeah, good idea. because if you gave them to her resized (at that size), that would be a bad idea.

Picture quality is pretty good. And it's cool how you can use old MF lenses with adapters. Thing you might have a hard time with it are adjusting the settings. You would always need to go into the menu settings to change like Iso, shutter speed, aperture, etc etc. What about Panasonic GF3 or Olympus E-PL3?

It looks beautiful that's for sure. I've made up my mind, and will be picking on up.

Got a question though how important are filters?

I've been a dedicated Sony shooter for awhile now. I came across a deal for a Nikon D90 and in a way it benefits me since my cousins and friends are Nikon shooters too. Right now, I have a Sony A560 with a couple of lenses, but Im thinking of selling it and switching over to Nikon. Would that be a downgrade? Originally, I was saving up for a D7000, but the D90 offer is something I wouldn't want to pass up. What do you guys think? Stay with the Sony and save up for the D7000 or switch to the D90?

if you plan on getting serious about photography (even as a serious hobbyist) i would make the switch to nikon (even with the D90).

but here's a comparison chart: http://snapsort.com/compare/Nikon_D90-vs-Sony_Alpha_DSLR-A560

Actually filters if anything downgrade quality. If you have a lens hood that is pretty good protection, I was reading up on a photo forums that a bunch of pros don't use filters. They only recommend it that you have one in case you are shooting somewhere where it is sandy and something can damage your lens. After reading that I stopped using my filter. Also think of it this way if you drop a rock on the filter it will break, then if you feel the underside of it you will notice if that happened to the filter on the lens it could totally mess up the lens.

If that came out today, I'd get it. I've been eyeing the x100 but it's just too much tongueface

I always thought that having a filter on would degrade the quality of the image.. I guess I'll just leave the filter on, and see what I'll do in the end. Good looks either way lax

I would really like a super sharp wide angle prime for around $400 or a little or less...anyone wanna help also willing to sell my sigma 18-200 for $100 sells on BH for more than twice that.

So I'm starting to get into Film photography and I decided to go with the Canon Ae-1, but I was wondering if there is a big difference between the Ae-1 and the Ae-1 program besides the Program option of course. Is it worth spending the extra money on getting the program rather than the other? Also, is the program opinion really useful at all?

Aug 26, 2011 @ 14:18
it's not really useful especially if you're getting into photography, it's better to learn how to use only your manual setting.
Aug 27, 2011 @ 01:08
Well I decided to buy a group kit which includes a Canon AE-1 program, canon FD 50mm 1.4 and a tokina szx 70-210 lens (the one with the red ring which I heard was a good lens) all for 130.. Did I get a good deal?
