I've shot film before, developed and everything, still have the camera too. I've always wanted digital and i'm about to buy my first DSLR, thinking of a t2i.. should i go ahead and get that as a first or should i try something cheaper? Like a XS Rebel? I was thinking might as well go big so i don't have to deal with the upgrading, etc. later.

Get the t2i. The Rebel XS is a bit out of date.

Looking for some good lighting on my D90. What kind of flash should I be looking into?

Not looking to spend much on a SD Card but is 8GB Enough? I'm gonna be buying a SanDisk 8GB Class 10. Was wondering if i should do 16GB For about $60.. price is a little steep.

Depends what camera but 8 Gig should be enough unless you plan on shooting hour long HD clips.

It's for a T2i, i don't think i'll be planning to shoot hour long videos maybe more of small clips here and there to put it together. Probably 30 minutes worth. Thanks for your link, i might consider. I just don't want to buy a 16GB and end up never using over 8GB, it seems wasteful to me. Thanks for your link, i might consider.

Well it's better to have more storage than less right? I rather get a 16 gig and never worry about running out of space. I've filled out my 8 gig in a day of shooting before on my d7000. But then again, i shoot raw + fine jpeg.

Also, try to consider like a 10 min video in 1080p is already 1-1.5 gigs.

Thanks for the suggestions tehcake. Know any good carrying bags to wear with all this gear? lol. I was thinking of strap bag that goes around your shoulder and chest, still looking locally.

Get two 8 gb's. Sucks to have everything on a 16gb card and then lose it/break it...

I'm looking at this bag at the moment. It's slim and can fit all my stuff, so i'm considering it.

any ideas about the nikon 35-70mm f/2.8?

I currently own the 35-70 f/2.8D and its amazing. It is a push pull zoom but does have a close focus feature at 35mm. It tends to flare a bit when directly in the sun but optically it is amazing. Stopped down to f/4-5.6 its tack sharp. At f/2.8 its pretty sharp but soft on some corners. Its made of all metal and its pretty small. You probably want to get a hood with it like the 70-300mm hood I think its the HB-3.

That's a good idea, i'll consider that.. Since 16 GB and two 8GB will end up the same price anyways.

Opteka 6.5mm fish eye.

Its manual focus and wont meter on a d90 but it does the job. All the fish eye shots in my flickr were taken with it.

Yup it will.

Just go into Non CPU lens data and you can select the max aperture.

So you can shoot in Apeture priority.

dude, don't waste your money on the class 10, i've got the class 4 ultra one that's 15 mb/s and I can take 1080p videos for days, it's never done me wrong. there's also those transcend cards that are actually pretty good as well.

I got hired to do some prom shots for a group of seniors before they head off to the prom.

I need help in terms of equipment I should take..
I have a 550D and 50mm f/1.8 lens as well as the 18-55 kit lens (which I would rather not use)

The shoot will be on location at one of the students house (which I haven't seen or will see until the day of), there are 14 of them in total, and if it rains we will have to shoot indoors.
So my question is will my 50mm be sufficient for those group shots? They also want limo shots, so should I consider renting a wider angled lens? If so, which one? I'd much rather use a prime than a standard zoom, thanks in advance.

Thinking about selling my d3000 body for either the nikon d3100 or the d5100 since i'm in need of video shooting capabilities. Should I spend the extra money on the d5100 or will the d3100 suffice?

i just went to wallmart today, and apparently they dont do it in house, you drop in in a slot and they send it out and you get them back 3-4 days later. try local drug stores like walgreens or riteaid, i know in my town those are the ones that do it.
