What would be a great starting camera? To get into photography and just shoot random things 'round town etc..

Budget is about 200-350 $$

Currently have a D40 and wanting to upgrade to a D90. Current lenses I've got are 18-55, 35 and 10-20mm, should I just buy the body or get the package with the 18-105mm lens?

I'm trying to sell my D40 too.

Can anybody give feedback on the 600D/T3i? Is it worth it for a beginner or should I stick with the T2i?

If your doing film, t3i, otherwise save yourself like 100-200$ by getting the T2i.
Also check out the Nikon D5100, it has a d7000 sensor and 1080p at 30FPS.

I'd def go for the t2i. Use the excess cash for some good glass instead.

You can also hack the t2i for much better film controls.

Thanks. I'm going to wait for the D5100 to come out and compare it with the T2i since they're not too far apart in price.

Well if your into slightly better image quality and better iso performance, jump on the D5100, it uses the D7000 sensor. The T2i is a a great camera nevertheless.

Get the canon 50mm 1.8. It's very good and very cheap.

Do you really need the video and better iso performance. ? If so go with the t2i. Flash you can always get a cheap yongnuo eBay flash for now.
