How would I go about doing getting the colors to be like that in the letters in photoshop?

Whattup Hod.
I recreated the effect and uploaded the Photoshop file of it for you.
It's basically adding a Layer Effect to your Text and tweaking it a bit.
The file is set up so you can edit the text however you want.
Let me know how that works.
I'm not a full fledged member yet so I can't post full links.

Haha cool stuff OP. I've seen your stuff around before. Your type work is dope. Your name's Chris right? I think Yuna invited me to join your Basis group on Facebook before. Nice stuff man.

I like designing UIs.. iPhones, iPads, et cetera. I do do regular artistic shit but I like fooling around with UI/creating products more.. started out designing websites but that got boring way too quickly. Currently do this and a mix of photography (but majoring in Econ in school, which gets hectic). 400x300 customary dribbble res... have done more stuff before but these are the most recent things i've been working on:

I plan on going to school next year for graphic design, and I have a question for everyone who is going and went to school for it, did you guys have to submit a portfolio of hand drawn things? I have to have one for the school I plan on going to, but I have draw for shit. Lol. If you had to, how did you guys get your portfolio ready? What would you recommend for improving drawing skills?

^I had to submit a portfolio of sketches either finished or not, and my digital work.

Also I recommend taking as many art classes as you can and if your able buy computer arts/advanced photoshop magazines.
