Does anyone own this camera?
I've been reading reviews and it seems like I will make a purchase soon.
Any pros/cons any owners would like to share?
Thanks.

Its great as a compact cam, image quality is good even in lowlight( though u cant compare with a dlsr). Not really a bad thing but something small is the lens cap where u have to remember to remove and attach back before/after shooting. Only 5x zoom too.

If you looking for a compact then yea, u should consider getting it, u can maybe check out the canon s95 too.
Or just wait till early next year when the GF2 comes out, like what calintz said, just alittle bigger but better specs along with interchangeable lens.

Macroshot

Automode

Max zoom taken from ~70meters away

The GF1 is great but if I wanted interchangeable lens, I might as well go with a DSLR.

but that's the thing, the GF1 isn't replacing a DSLR - its a compact DSLR with changeable lens and manual focusing etc.

something you use everywhere, everyday if you don't want lug around a big bag

gf1. anyone who owns one will say the same. people who don't own it will say otherwise.

it's a great camera. the only point and shoot i'd recommend is the s95. unless you're doing video,
the lx5 might come in handy. But then again, i wouldn't recommend doing video on a point and shoot
and would probably suggest anything from the d3100/t2i and up.

gf1 is currently $600 on amazon. it's a great buy.

it's beautiful .... but why you have to pay the same price of a dslr (or higher) for a P&S that can take average pics compared to an entry level reflex camera and it can't fit in your pocket too because it's too bulky ? dunno |0

Gf1 can fit in a jacket pocket or comfortably around your neck

It has an SLR sensor that is like 10 times bigger then the best Digital camera sensor. A range finder is not an SLR but can still take as good quality pictures.

Taken with my gf1

yeah true, but what i was trying to convey was that it was supposed to represent a slr-like experience within a compact, mirrorless body
